Orville Francis "Obie" O'Briant, 79 of El Campo, passed away May 14, 2013. He was born on October 9, 1933 in Louise, Texas to Alvin E. and Roxie Cobb O'Briant. He was a member of the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #1749 and a retired volunteer fireman from El Campo Volunteer Fire Department. Obie loved to hunt, spend time at his cabin on Sandy Creek and was very proud of his Irish heritage. He is survived by his wife Shirley; daughters Sharon and Gary Johnson of El Campo, Lynette O'Briant of El Campo, Paula Rod of Corpus Christi; son Kevin and Maria O'Briant of Edna; grandchildren Slade and BeKa Johnson, Matt Rod, Kara Rod, Hunter O'Briant, Hannah O'Briant, Hailey O'Briant, Sandra O'Briant, Karla O'Briant, Lesly O'Briant; great-grandchildren Kennady Howard, Presley Johnson, Avery Montalvo; sister Lorraine Morton of Louise; and special friend Elaine Lukas of El Campo. Obie was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Chase Johnson; brothers Paul O'Briant, Darrell O'Briant, Zane O'Briant; and sister Lois Morton. Visitation will begin at 1 pm on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Triska Funeral Home. Family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral service will be 2 pm on Friday, May 17, 2013 at St. Philip Catholic Church with the Reverend Gabriel Oduro Tawiah officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Pallbearers are Slade Johnson, Matt Rod, Hunter O'Briant, Chris Montalvo, Curtis Clapp, Gail Morton, Daniel Holub and David Grall. Honorary pallbearers are the El Campo Volunteer Fire Department. Memorial donations in honor of Obie may be made to El Campo Volunteer Fire Department.
