Oscar B. Medrano, of Santa Paula, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at home surrounded by his family. He was 90 years old. Oscar was born on April 22, 1928, in Santa Paula, California to parents, Macario and Rosario Medrano.

Oscar was a lifelong resident of Santa Paula. He was a cement mason by trade for over 40 years. He loved his work and the many friendships he made over the years. Oscar was also a proud veteran having served in both Germany and in the Korean war.

On April 20, 1950, he married Christina Castor, also of Santa Paula. They were married for 63 years and raised four children. Together they spent time camping in Lake Tahoe, the Sequioa's, Yosemite and Lake Cachuma. They traveled often to San Jose to visit relatives. One of their special trips was driving across country to visit their son in Indiana and enjoying the various points of interest along the way. And of course there were those frequent trips to Laughlin with his wife, his brother Nunie and sister in law, Lupe. Oscar was an avid boxing fan. Every Saturday night you would find him sitting in his favorite chair rooting for his favorite boxer. This past April Oscar celebrated his 90th birthday with a big party that included music, food and all his family. He had a great time.

Oscar was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Christina; his parents, brothers Raymond, Henry, Ruben and Nunie and sister Margie Garcia. He is survived by his sons, Oscar Jr. (Marilyn) of Santa Paula, and Alex (Joann) of Bedford, Indiana; daugh-ters, Elaine Duran (Edward) of Camarillo, and Norma Medrano (Jesse Terrazas) of Santa Paula; nine grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; his sisters Ruth Borjas, Rosario Cardoza, and Esther Garcia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

We have so many wonderful memories of our father, the love he showed us, his sense of humor and quick wit. We will miss him dearly. On behalf of the family, we would like to express our deepest appreciation to the Hospice staff of Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association for their support, compassion, and personalized care.

A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Chapel of The Angels, 600 E. Pleasant Street, Santa Paula. Burial will be private.
