Hey JR! We all miss you and love you! I know growing up I was too young to know you, but I feel I´ve gotten so much closer to you as I grow older, I think about you when times get hard to push myself, I think about you through out the day and through the night, my heart hurts to know you are not here physically but my heart also feels full because I always feel your presence! You´re my guardian angel and I love you! You aren´t and never will be forgotten!

Oscar,
Sorry that I have not been able to visit you much. I have came by to say hi every time I am in Del Rio. As you know the military life doesn't always let you go where you want to. We shared so many memories starting in middle school and to this day. In many ways my service in the military is in part to honor your sacrifice. I hope you are and will be watching over those deployed. I miss you my friend. You will never be forgot or lost.
KIA
Proud to have known you!

Hey bro, I still cant believe that after 6 years the pain is just as heavy as it was when i first found out I lost a good griend and an even better soldier. I will always remember all the fun times we had in Ft. Riley and will always keep you and your family in prayer. It was truly an honor and privilege to have known you and serve with you.

Hey Cousin,
Just wanted to stop by and let you know I'm still thinking about you. I got a bear in a Army uniform on my dashboard to remind me of you.

I'm still coaching middle school kids in our favorite sport "Football". We won the Championship again this Spring.
Every Spring season I get my players to wear a american flag with #4 in it on their helmets to remember you.

Thanks for looking out for me down here and keeping myself and everybody else who miss you safe!

your cousin,

Sandra Hernandez

Oscar,

Bro I remember you as if it were only yesterday when we proudly donned our ram uniforms and took the field together. You will be forever loved and forever missed. I know you may not visually see this but i also know that you are watching and will feel what I write to you. I want you to know that today is 20090714 (July 14, 2009 - civilian) and I have enlisted in the US Army as an infantry pfc. I want you to know that I dedicate my enlistment to you and your memory Oscar. You were a good friend and a good mentor, you taught me to work hard and to dedicate myself to my goals and for that I am forever grateful. I love you bro, and I'll see you again. To the family of JR, all I can offer is my condolences and a hope that through my enlistment I may be able to honor JR the way that he deserves to be honored. My heart goes out to you for your strength and support and for your loss.I look forward to serving proudly knowing that JR will be right there at my side, even if only in spirit.

JR -

Now, only God and his angels enjoy your precious smile, your beautiful voice, your sense of humor.

I have only but memories and your spirit to carry with me.

Son, these are most precious.

I am so empty - without you here, son.

I'll wait for you to sing to me in my dreams. There is where I'll touch your face and hold your hands.

Mijo, te quiero mucho, mucho -
more than life itself.

JR, my precious baby: I carry you in my spirit. Can you feel me son? Can you hear my prayers? Some days I feel like I am about to snap, just break apart. I miss you too much, JR. I miss your voice, your laugh, your smile, your hugs, your singing, your loud music, cooking for you, taking care of you, talking to you, everything. Nothing is the same. I await your birthday. Yes, mijo, I'll have a cake for you and I'll be there, early in the morning, with you to tell you, once again, the story of the day you were born. My precious baby,
I'm having a really difficult time grasping the truth that one year has gone by since you left us. Everything is so fresh in my mind.
I hold on dearly to the memory of the last time I heard your voice - Mother's Day - May 15, 2007. Listening to you say...."Momma, I love you".... just put the biggest smile on my face, and warmed my heart. My beautiful boy. Yo tambien te quierro mucho, mucho, mijo. I love you too my baby and I miss you terribly.

Rest with God's angels, son.

In Memory of Oscar ~ (Debra Estep)

May 22, 2008

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Oscar, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Big City,
hey cousin! I just gotta say I'm so sorry I never came back out to Del Rio to be with all the family I have out there. I'm sorry, I just thought I had all the time in the world to come back and get to know each other better.Every time I see a picture of you I get mad at myself because I know we would of been close. that'll beat me up till the day I die, and every time I return to Del Rio you'll be the first one I see my cousin! I'll always remember you trust that.

JR, seems like it was just yesterday, that I gave birth to my beautiful baby boy. The first time I held you I kissed your little face and hands. You were perfect. Always, you were just perfect. God did a great job! And that day, I blessed you with a special blessing, just as I did your sisters & little Ricky. And you know how - each birthday, as soon as you woke in the morning, I was there to tell you the story of the day you were born and then you'd see your cake. Somehow, this became our little family tradition. Well, mijo, tomorrow will be no different. I'll have a cake for you. I've requested that you be remembered @ mass tomorrow evening @ 6:30 pm @ St. Joseph's. We'll all be there. Then your sisters, little Ricky & I and dad will come over and be with you and I'll tell you the story of the day you were born - You see, I still remember it like it was just yesterday. That day in 1985, from the time I first saw you, you made my heart smile.

Mijo, I just miss you too much. My heart is so full, JR - some days, I just don't know how to contain myself. You know, it seemed that "mom" always had it together - had things in control. But this one is just too big for me, son.......
but I know that you hug me gently and that you'll ask God to carry me through this.

Mijo, te quiero mucho. Sleep with the angels my baby. I'll keep praying for your military brothers and sisters. Happy 22nd Birthday, my baby......Love you ...... Mom

Oscar,
It's hard to believe it's been 4 months since you have been gone. It still hurts to see a soldier in uniform walk down the street. Thank you for always being such an awesome friend when I or anyone else ever needed you...you will never ever be forgotten. A memorial is being held for you in Del Rio in a few days, that I wish I could attend but sadly, I can't...but I'll be thinking of you on that day, which would have been your birthday. God Bless you little homie and may you rest in peace. My deepest condolences to the Hernandez family...

Oscar, From football to track to late nights, you were alwys there. You always had my back, you were always there for the little guy, you never let anybody mess with me. I give you my word as A United States Marine that your sacrifice will not be in vain. I remember when we first saw each other after you joined the Army and i joined the Marines, the first 3 words out of your mouth to me were "Brothers In Arms". I promise you big bro that we'll accomplish the mission you started, if it takes every last breath in our bodies, we'll finish the job for you. See you up there bro. OORAH

August 22, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

I didn't know Pvt. Sauceda personally, but I had the privilege of paying respects to him at the Del Rio Civic Center along with several other soldiers assigned to Operation Jump Start. Every time I hear of one of my fellow comrades being killed over there, it seems as though a part of me is shattered. Being a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom myself, I have seen firsthand the sacrifices that are made on a daily basis by courageous men and women and uniform. Oscar made the ultimate sacrifice for us all. I can tell that he was one great guy and he leaves a void that can never be filled. May God be with his family and strengthen them through this tragic period in their lives

To Oscar's family, as the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life’s routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family, friends, and all Americans for the sacrifice of one of your family members for our freedom. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you find comfort in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father.

I remember like if it was yesterday, you and Liz were in town and seriously, I hadnt been that happy to see anyone in long time. It was my best Christmas to date. Im going to miss you terribly. Words cant describe the kind of person you are. Kind, sincere, open, random.. the list goes on...
I just want to say how much I'm going to miss you. Its a shame I never got to tell you how much you impacted my life and I love you so much buddy.
Tell Grama I said hi. Dont worry, I wont forget to remember you.
I love you Oscy.

I love you and thank you once again for being a friend in time of need..

I want to tell the Sauceda family I am so sorry for your loss. Oscar was always there for anyone. He was there to cheer me up when I lost my late boyfriend Daniel Fuentes and was there to celebrate my birthday before we deployed, while trying to slam my face into the cake, lol. He was and still is such a great person. He is going to be missed by everyone out here. R.I.P. Oscar. Now we have another angel to help guide us all home.

My family had the great pleasure of meeting Oscar at Thanksgiving this past year. He came home with my son, PFC Casey Kehling, from Ft Riley for the weekend. I can not begin to express the sorrow that our family and friends have felt over the loss of Oscar. He was such a respectful, polite, and wonderful young man that we are proud to have had him make friends with our son. He touched a lot of people while he was in our little town in Ohio and in our home. I just want the family to know we are sincerely sorry for there loss and to know how much we enjoyed having Oscar in our home. God Bless your family!

God Bless Legacy.com for allowing us to honor these heros.

We can't imagine what you have been going through since being notified of the death of your young Warrior. The Military and families all over the USA and world are grieving with you and praying for you. What a very brave individual you have in your family that would give up a life for their homeland and its people so they can remain free. Your Freedom Fighter has served the Country above and beyond the call of duty, let no one ever tell you different. With the mission now completed your Warrior has been redeployed to Heaven to sit on the right hand of the Supreme Commander and Chief. The Father above has Oscar in his arms and will give him peace as well as eventually easing your pain and suffering. God speed to you and Pvt. Oscar Sauceda, our HERO. We are so proud of them that are willing to sacrifice for this great Nation, THANK YOU.
