Otto Glaser Obituary

Published by Houston Chronicle on Apr. 5, 2015.
Otto Glaser
1932-2015
OTTO GLASER, age 82, died March 28, 2015, of pneumonia. It was a brief illness and a peaceful death, with family at his side. He was born in Chicago, Illinois and lived in Houston for most of his life. Otto attended San Jacinto High School and graduated from the University of Houston with a baccalaureate in business administration. He served as a lieutenant in the US Army and worked as a stockbroker and investment advisor for over 40 years. Otto had broad interests in many areas and a keen sense of humor. His enthusiasm for mechanical devices and new technology led him to serve as vice president of the Houston Inventors Association. He enjoyed helping inventors of all ages. Otto is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth; his sons Steve (Eric Greatsinger) and Tom (Nadean Brown); his grandson Noah; his sister-in-law Linda Schudalla (Andrew); and his nephews David Glaser (Sandra Amador Mora); Ron (Nancy), Randy (Kim) and Scott (Marlene) Schudalla. Memorial services will be held at Emerson Unitarian Church, 1900 Bering Drive, at 1:00 PM Thursday April 9th. Donations in Otto's memory may be made to the MD Anderson Cancer Center Research Fund or Emerson Church. We invite you to share in our joy of having known Otto, a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, and our gratitude for the wonderful memories he has given us.

Otto was a dear friend for many years. We never got to meet in person, but talked frequently on the phone, Skype and via email. His passion for inventing and helping Inventors always shown through. He and I talked about the members of the Houston Association and any new contact or information he could share to help others succeed. Otto was dedicated to helping others avoid the pitfalls he saw so many Inventors get themselves into due to lack of understanding the industry. I have met very few people that had his compassion and drive. He was admired by more people than I think he was aware and will be sorely missed. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

I met Otto at the Houston Inventors Association in 2012. He welcomed me like family and gave me a few opportunities which helped me a lot. His dedication to the Houston Inventors Association was at the heart of its success. Otto was always thinking creatively and I loved his focus and commitment to inventing. Thank You Otto. I will make sure to continue utilizing the knowledge you introduced me to.
