Pamela ALLEN

ALLEN, Pamela Mozdy died Sept. 1, 2021, in Largo, Florida. She was 62 and blessed to have her loving husband, Tony with her every step of her difficult journey through early-onset dementia. Born July 14, 1959, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to Frank and Elaine (Kirsch) Mozdy, Pam was the second in a large, loving family. She graduated from Our Lady of Peace grade school and medaled in high jump for her high school track team at Villa Maria Academy. She graduated with a degree in elementary education from Mercyhurst University in 1981. Pam became an innovative science teacher, passionate about learning through sensory experiences. Pam taught at Seton School in Meadville, PA; St. Gregory School in North East, PA, and ended her career at Seminole Middle School in Pinellas County, Florida, where she was voted Florida Science Teacher of the Year. She met Tony Allen, the love of her life, after moving to Florida and married him in an intimate ceremony at a beautiful Largo park in 2001. They had a second ceremony in Erie later that year during a snow storm, the first snow Tony had seen. Their life together was filled with birds, dogs, love and childhood casseroles, which Tony declared were the best he had ever tasted. Her seven brothers and sisters and their spouses and children remember her birthday phone calls, years into her diagnosis, when she would sing and play the Happy Birthday song on her piano. When her dementia robbed her of her words, Pam was still able to play Beethoven concertos. She was an excellent seamstress, accomplished pianist, creative quilter and eventually, gifted painter. Pam was spontaneous throughout her life, surprising family and friends with what came next. Pam is survived by her husband, Tony; parents, Frank and Elaine Mozdy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Diana, Gregg and Heidi, Eric and Rachel and Michael and Suzanne; sisters and brothers-in-law, Deirdre and Randall Myers, Jennifer and Tony Stefanelli and Patricia and Chris Kelley; as well as many beloved nephews and nieces. A private celebration of life was held in Largo, FL.
