Pamela Anderson-Courtain Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 24, 2009.
Pamela Jean Anderson-Courtain - a resident of Ontario, Oregon and former resident of Pendleton died on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 in Reedsport, Oregon. She was 50 years old. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 4th, 20099, at 1:00 PM at Burns Mortuary chapel in Pendleton, Oregon, followed by interment at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton. Following the interment, friends are invited to join with the family in the Fellowship Hall of the Pendleton Free Methodist Church for a potluck and gathering. Contributions in memory of Pamela may be made to Doernbecher Children's Hospital, and may be sent in care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, PO Box 489, Pendleton, OR 97801. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Pam was born on September 13, 1959 in Torrance California. Her family moved as needed for economic reasons, as so many families did in those days, eventually settling in Bullhead City, Arizona. Pam attended Mohave High School in Bullhead City. One of her first summer jobs was working at the Grand Canyon where she did a multitude of tasks for the resort. One reflection, that she always shared, was that whenever she would go to the rim and look down, she would have to drop to her knees and crawl away because she was so scared of heights. Pam's family moved to Pendleton, Oregon, in 1977, where she met her husband of 27 years, Patrick "Pat" Anderson, who died in 2006. Pam worked at the Eastern Oregon State Hospital and then for Nova Industries, and managed two mental health care homes and facilities in the Pendleton area after the state hospital closed. Pam, as a matter of routine, often thought of others rather than herself. Pam would bring a client home, who didn't have family, for Christmas Eve. Other family would also be at their home and one of Pat and Pam's friends would dress up as Santa Claus and gifts would be exchanged, thus bringing joy not only to their family, but to someone way less fortunate. Pat and Pam had two children, Ryan Patrick (January 10, 1982 - January 18, 1982) and Debra Dawnielle (July 15, 1987 - ). Having an only child, Pam was a devoted, loving mother who desired to see her daughter succeed. Debra would describe her childhood experience as the best one could have because of her mother Pamela. In every aspect of what a mother should be, Pamela was that and more. On June 18, 2009 Pam married Wayne G. Courtain in Vale, Oregon. Pam was a member of the Pendleton Kiwanis Club before she moved to Ontario, Oregon. She enjoyed participating with this group and volunteered numerous times preparing and serving soup at the Salvation Army. Pam joined the Malheur County Search & Rescue team as a certified rescue diver and was beginning to train with the canyon rescue (rope) team. Pamela's hobbies included; cooking, motorcycle riding; SCUBA diving, crabbing, gardening, playing DVD movies endlessly, and being creative with arts and crafts. One of Pam's favorite pastimes was caring for her many pets. She had four cats (Indy, Ana, Necko, and Mama), one basset hound (Josie), and was even training the squirrels in her back yard! Pam also donated a lot of time cleaning the side of freeway in the Pendleton area with the Baha'i Faith. Pam is survived by her husband Wayne Courtain at the home in Ontario, OR, father Joseph Frazell of Northridge, CA, mother Mary Jo Adams of Laughlin, NV, daughter Debra Dawnielle Anderson of Monmouth, OR, step-son Wayne Courtain Jr., and step-daughter Barbara Courtain both of Pendleton, OR, brothers Joseph Frazell of Laughlin, NV, and Jerome William Frazell of Tri-Cities, WA, sister Debra May Young of Le Roy, IL, grandchildren Wyatt Doran Mentzer and Charley Rose Mentzer both of Pendleton, OR, extended family Kathy and David Hartley of Pendleton, OR, Terry and Teri Sanderson of Biggs, OR, and Betty Anderson of Pendleton, OR, nieces and nephews; Daniel Young and Holly Young of Le Roy, IL, Jacob Frazell and Brandon Frazell of Laughlin, NV, Jessica Lynn Frazell of Denver, CO, Nicole Maria Shatz of Tri-Cities, WA, Joseph Ryan Frazell of Boise, ID, Tiah Devin of Arlington, OR, Tyan Swanson of West Linn, OR, Talia Sanderson of Molalla, OR, and Jacob Hartley, Hailey Hartley and Shannon Hartley, all of Pendleton, OR.
