Pamela Larson Dunklin of Chriesman, Texas passed away on July 22, 2010 at Christus Dubuis Hospital in Bryan, Texas after a long courageous battle of cancer. Pamela was born Feb. 23, 1945 at Will Rogers Army Air Field in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to 1LT. Leonard Carl Larson and Lou Ella Speckman Larson. Pamela was raised and attended school in Port Arthur, Texas. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1963. She attended Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and University of Texas in Austin, Texas. She earned a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Sam Houston State University. Later she attended Lake County College in Chicago, Illinois and Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas where she earned an Associate Degree in Computer Science. On January 9, 1965 Pamela married her high school sweetheart, Gerald W. Dunklin of Chriesman, Texas. After graduating with her husband in 1968 from Sam Houston State University, she embarked with him on a 20 year U.S. Army career that included stateside and overseas assignments. After her husband’s retirement from the Army, she began a 19 year teaching career with the Killeen Independent School District at Clarke Elementary School of Fort Hood, where she taught first grade and pre-kindergarten. She retired from teaching in June, 2007. She devoted her life to her loving family, grandchildren and husband of 45 years. Pamela was preceded in death by her father Leonard Carl Larson. She is survived by her husband; Gerald, son; David W. Dunklin of Killeen, Texas, daughter; Phaedra Walker of Georgetown, Texas and five grandchildren; London, Reese, Carigan, Layla and Genevieve. She is also survived by her mother; Lou Ella Larson of Port Arthur, Texas, Brothers Leonard Larson II of Port Arthur, Texas, and Dwight Larson of Chriesman, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family request the memorials be made to Chriesman United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. P.O. Box 50, Memphis, Tennessee. 78101 The family will receive family and friends for visitation on Monday 26, 2010 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell Texas. A final committal service will be conducted at 11 AM at The Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas, on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 with Rev. Roy Dillard officiating, under the care and direction of Strickland Funeral Homes. Please visit our website at www.stricklandfuneralhomes.com

Pam was an inspiration to all she met. She was always someone that was smiling and could make you feel at ease. I am blessed to have had her in my life. She was a great teacher and friend. She is missed and my thought and prayers go out to her family.
