Pamela "Pam" Larsen
February 26, 1941 - January 12, 2023
Sequim, Washington - Pam Larsen, 81, passed away January 12, 2023. Raised in Southern California, Pam graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 1958, earned her Bachelor's Degree, and later a Master's Degree in Social Work from California State University, Fresno. She also taught Women's Studies classes at the University and at a nearby women's prison. Pam worked 30 years for the California State Compensation Insurance Fund in Fresno, retiring in 1996 as their Fresno District Claims Manager.
In 1999, Pam moved to Sequim, Washington, where she became passionate about organic gardening, sharing her research and knowledge to assist her community to better understand the benefits of this practice. Pam was instrumental in the creation of the Community Organic Garden of Sequim. Her article, "The Secret Language of Plants" was published in the 2017 Jan/Feb issue of The American Gardener magazine. She considered herself a "gardener in evolution".
Pam was preceded in death by her father, Theodore Larsen, her mother Frances Black Larsen, and her sister, Lorelei Larsen Provost. She is survived by her loving partner, Diane Fatzinger.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Community Organic Garden in August 2023. An announcement will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be sent to the Community Organic Garden of Sequim, 18 Camelot Drive Sequim WA 98382 or online to the Friends of the Sequim Library, both organizations were dear to Pam.

Every time I plant my "Music" garlic I think of Pam who turned me onto the garlic. I can´t tell you how many more people I have told about this magnificent garlic. You are missed smart lady.

Pam was my teacher for all things "organic gardening" and really helped me through my first couple of years with the Community Garden. She was tough, a hard worker and smart as a whip.

Pam had a kind heart, she was very smart, and she shared her knowledge unsparingly with the Sequim Organic Gardeners. Her Music will live on. She will be missed.

So surprised and sorry to hear of Pam's passing. She was an inspiration to many including me on so many facets of growing organic food gardens, seed saving. native plants and so much more. She leaves a big hole in the North Olympic Peninsula's advocacy for growing our own home food supplies.

I am so sorry to hear of Pam's passing. She was such a patient, kind, curious friend to many. She has left a legacy of many, many gardeners behind, who have her to thank for what they now know. She will be truly missed.

Pam was the best, most helpful supervisor I ever had. She used to say she generally didn't like kids, but she once said she liked MINE. Rest Peacefully Dear Pam.
