Pamela Merwin Obituary
Adel, GA- Mrs. Pamela Williams Merwin, 67, of Adel, Georgia, passed away September 2, 2016 at her home. She was born July 2, 1949 in Macon, Georgia. She moved to Adel, Georgia in 1972 to build a life and family with her husband, Charlie Merwin. The two met in Athens, Georgia while living next door to each other and attending the University of Georgia.
She graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. She returned to school to obtain her Masters in Education from Valdosta State University. She began a teaching career at Cook High School in the business education department that would last 31 years. During that time as leader of the work study program, she was devoted to placing students in jobs that would reach beyond their classroom education. While teaching she continued her education at VSU with an Education Specialist degree and also became a National Certified Teacher. She made many rich friendships while teaching and was often approached by grateful former students.
She was an active member of First Assembly of God and the Emmaus Christian community. She gave her gift of playing the piano to Kings Chapel and Salem United Methodist while her husband served as pastor there. Her ministry in recent years was making and sending beautiful hand made cards.
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Charlie Merwin of Adel; two daughters and a son-in-law: Dana Merwin of San Francisco, Ca; Kelly and Greg Wynn of Huntsville, Alabama; two grandchildren: Anna and Rebekah Wynn; a sister and brother-in-law Tena and James Dominy of Macon, Georgia; and one brother Gary Williams of Macon, Georgia. Pam was preceded in death by her father, William P. Williams and mother, Elvie Merline Harper Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 5, 2016 at the Adel First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Eric Gordon officiating. Interment will follow at Futch Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Adel First Assembly of God Fellowship Scholarship Fund, 601 Massee Post Road, Adel, Georgia.
