Parfiner Bowie Obituary
Parfiner's career was marked by service. She worked as a cross-country truck driver (CB handle: Lady 3 Speed), a medical transportation driver, and, finally, a Corrections Master Sergeant at Jetson Correctional Center for Youth, where she retired from in 2011.
Additionally, she was a talented gospel recording artist. When she wasn't sharing her musical gifts, Parfiner enjoyed gardening, nurturing her plants with the same love and care she extended to her family and friends.
Parfiner served as an Elder and Mother of the Church at New Covenant Christian Center under the leadership of Apostle Michael L. Smith Sr. Her faith and service to God was an essential part of her life.
Parfiner leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her husband Forest Bowie; two daughters, Angela (James Sr.) Lather and Terry Waldon; two sons, William Worner and Roberto (Terikka) Walter. She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren: Deroy Waldon, Jwan Waldon, Jeremy Waldon, Dineshia (Dwayne) McBride, Laterrica (Joel) Hardnett, James (Rose) Lathers Jr., Jermisha Walders, Tyren Walter, and Tyriq Walter. Additionally, she was blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Kadarius Johnson, Dontrell Waldon, Kaitlyn Hardnett, Jamyne Lathers, Kayleigh McBride, London Waldon, Janiya Hardnett, and Jai Hardnett. Parfiner also had a close-knit relationship with her seven sisters, three brothers, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, spiritual sons and daughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Robert Rayford Sr., and three brothers, Robert Rayford Jr., Maverick Rayford, and Ronald Warren.
A celebration of Parfiner's life will be held on December 9, 2023, at New Covenant Christian Center, located at 6515 E. Myrtle Ave., Baker, LA 70714.
Parfiner Duncan Bowie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her unwavering love and dedication will forever remain in the hearts of her loved ones. May she rest in eternal peace.
