Parker Coberly Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 4, 2025.
At age twenty-two, Parker passed away in the early morning of Saturday, August 30, 2025.

For the past three and a half years, Parker lived with a severe mental health disorder - an illness few recognized and even fewer who could fully understand his pain and suffering. His family and close friends, despite his many challenges, stood by him with love, support, and dedication to the end of his young life. Our dear Parker, our son, brother, cousin, nephew, and grandson, will be deeply missed. We feel peace knowing you are wrapped in our Heavenly Father's arms.

"And then shall it come to pass, that the spirits of those who are righteous are received into a state of happiness, which is called paradise, a state of rest, a state of peace, where they shall rest from all their troubles and from all care, and sorrow." Alma 40:12

Parker Scott Coberly was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on July 30, 2003. San Diego became his home at age seven. He leaves behind a family who will forever miss his laugh, his compassion, and his excitement for life and will cherish his memory. He was born to grateful parents, Scott and Alexis Coberly. He was a great support and delight to his younger brothers and sister, Hayes (20), Finn (16), and Lauren (13).

Music was his passion. He began playing guitar at the age of nine alongside his brother Hayes. Between their frequent wrestling matches in the family room, they filled the house with music. Their bond was marked by laughter, neighborhood games, scout trips, summers spent busking, drives with the windows down blasting their favorite songs, and countless mischievous adventures-some still untold. Hayes will miss Parker being there to add his harmonies.

Parker was so excited when Finn joined the family; all he wanted to do was make Finn laugh. Their sweet friendship quickly turned into Finn becoming Parker's favorite comic relief act with many "laugh-until-you-cry" memories, with, of course, older brother teasing moments mixed in.

Lauren will remain Parker's biggest fan. She idolized her big brother and showered him with unconditional love-the very thing he needed most. Once Lauren began playing guitar, they became quick music buddies-challenging each other's skills and writing songs to share.

His music and songs showed his enthusiasm for life and his sensitivity and warmth to those he loved and for those who loved him.

Parker was good to his core. Anyone who met him quickly recognized his sincerity and genuine spirit. He was without guile, carrying himself with honesty and openness in every interaction. Parker had an unshakable desire to help those less fortunate and a natural gift for offering comfort and encouragement. He was the friend who stood steadfastly in your corner when the world felt like it was falling apart. His kindness, loyalty, and compassion left an imprint on everyone blessed to know him.

Parker's life, though far too short, was a testament to the quiet strength of a gentle heart. His journey opened the door to the Savior for many, and without a doubt, he is now the missionary he always wanted to be.

We love you, our Parker-Boy; we will miss you, kid.

When I first ever saw Parker it was in highschool and i was 16. I stared at him long enough for it to be creepy. He had a guitar on his back and wasn´t facing me. I thought I played better than him. I didn´t! I was inspired to play as much as I did when I first started at 9. It became my favorite thing again. It´s still most of what I do. And I write all my songs (almost probably) about him because he´s my bestfriend. He was so incredibly talented and I´m grateful it was shared with people. He´s still inspiring me. This was a picture from a day we played together when me and my grandmother visited him in treatment. He played a beautiful original and talked about coming home. And wherever that may be because the words are different now, I always wanted him to be home or atleast somewhere that felt like it. Thank god he gets to rest with no interruption. I love you dude, endlessly.

Dear Coberly Family,

We are all devastated to hear the news of Parker's passing. Although he struggled deeply, it was absolutely evident when you met him that he had such a special, kind soul. I will never forget his smile, the way he played the guitar, or how he spoke of his little siblings. May his soul be at peace and may you all find healing through your grief. We are sending you so much love from Resilience. Please let us know if there is anything we can do.

Scott, Alexis, and Family - We are devastated to hear about Parker and the loss for your family. We have some lived experiences with these kinds of situations in my family, and the pain and suffering for both the one experiencing the challenges and their family can never be understood unless you´ve gone through it. My deepest condolences for everything you´ve had to be so strong through. It is a long, exhausting battle, and I´m so sorry you have all had to go through it. You guys are the best of the best and we love your family dearly. We will be praying for you all. Lots of love, Jeff and Heather Pickett

My love is with you always. I saw a quote that I particularly liked. "God doesn't choose the qualified, he qualifies the chosen." Parker has been chosen, now he's in the process of becoming qualified. What an amazing result that will be. - Auntie

Coberly family, my heart breaks for you all!! What a hard journey you have all been on. I pray you have felt the love and peace from and through our Savior Jesus Christ and His atonement. I'll never forget the primary class where I was sharing a story about the holy Ghost prompting me to keep me safe and Parker commented afterwards, "wow, I have goose bumps". It was like the best compliment that my simple primary lesson wasn't falling flat. Loved him and all of you so much! Have missed you guys since your move away from the ward but love running into you at the lake. I love looking at Chanae's wedding pictures and seeing your beautiful touch of flowers Alexis, permanently part of our lives and will never forget when Scott and I had to give talks on Easter Sunday, or when your boys sang with their guitars. Lots of spirit filled tears. Love you guys!!!

Deepest sympathies. Parker´s loss is immense. His sweet quiet gentle creative soul is apparent in all of the beautiful pictures- he was so very loved by his family and friends. Mental illness is misunderstood but those that he loved the most were there for him he was never alone. I´m so very sorry for loss of your beautiful boy

What a beautiful tribute and a beautifully eternal family. Will and I remember when Parker caught hold of the fire the Book of Mormon had. He had a light and a spark others wanted. Anytime he recognized truth, he was all in. What a pure heart. Only the passionate, sensitive, brilliant spirits experience mental illness like what he endured. Sending so much love and healing to all of you during such an incredibly difficult time.
