Pat Wiley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 16, 2018.
Pat Wilson Wiley, know professionally as Pat Wilson, passed away on September 6, 2018, at the age of 74. She was born on February 1, 1944, in Big Spring, Texas, to the late Roberta Shafer Wiley and the late G.L. Wiley. Pat graduated from North Texas State University (BA) and from California Polytechnic State University (MA). She served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in India. She had a drive to help people help themselves, a Peace Corps value, which she carried with her throughout life. She continued during her life to forge her network of relationships in India and maintained an active interest in development issues in South India. To this end, she founded a business related to India trade and was instrumental in establishing the Dudh Walla Foundation to support the education of women in the agricultural and animal husbandry fields.

Pat was the owner of The Wilson Group, LLC, an executive search firm in Washington, DC, specializing in partner and senior level attorney recruitment and placement. She spent over 40 years in the search industry and was one of the first to move into the field of attorney recruitment in the 1980s. She also owned and operated a cattle farm in Virginia.

In addition to her indefatigable entrepreneurial spirit, Pat possessed a passion for painting and golf.

Friends can pay their respects at the celebration of life service on Wednesday, November 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Perry Belmont House, 1618 New Hampshire Ave. NW, Washington, DC, 20009.

I grew up knowing Patsy Lee Wiley. Pat and my Dad were 1st cousins. She was only 3 years older than me. I have thought of her constantly since finding out of her passing. I wish I had more time to visit with her.

Pat will be dearly missed at our favorite vacation spot in Mexico. She loved our tee times and the fun we had together. She was one of the guys and could sure make us laugh. Well miss the little conversations that were sometimes tense. But most of all, well miss her smile and friendship...something I feel we earned in the short time we knew her. God speed my friend. I am very saddened at Pat's passing. Pat was the salt of the earth. She approached life, her cattle farm and her job with unmatched energy and passion. Those who knew Pat will never forget her. May she rest in peace.

I never met Pat but she was a great friend of my grandparents Bob and Doris Raney and my dad Raymond Raney. My grandfather was an agronomist for Kansas State and he taught and lived in India for several years. My deepest sympathy to all of her family and friends.

Pat was quite a character in a good way. You knew she really cared about people -- whether women in India or her attorneys in DC. She made a mark and i'm sure that she will be remembered by many whose lives she touched.
