Patricia Adami Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 21 to Nov. 22, 2016.
Patricia C. Adami, beloved wife of Darold P. Adami and mother of Gregory J. Adami, Thomas J. Adami, and Darold P. "Chip" Adami, Jr. lost her battle with cancer on November 19, 2016. She is survived by her son Gregory and his wife Debra of Houston, Thomas and his wife Toni of Goshen, Indiana, and Chip and his wife Tiffany of Sherman. Patti is also survived by her brother John Carmody of Kingsland, Texas and her sister Mary Jo Collins of Horseshoe Bay, Texas. She was the proud grandmother of TJ Adami, Ashlyn Adami, Tristan Adami, and Michael Adami of South Bend, Indiana, and Collin Adami, Mary Kate Adami, and Gracie Adami of Sherman.

Patti was a pillar of the community but more importantly was a pillar of the churches she attended where she was a frequent volunteer, a long-time youth teacher of religious education classes as well as the head of multiple scripture study courses and book clubs enjoyed by many in Sherman, Denison and Horseshoe Bay, Texas.

Patti was a graduate of Newman Central Catholic High School in Sterling, Illinois in 1960. She married her high school sweetheart in 1961 and moved to Evansville, Indiana where she attended the University of Evansville, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1965 with a degree in education. She had her first two children during her four year college career, but still managed to graduate with her original college class with the second highest grade point average. She later went on to get the first of two Master's Degrees in education from the University of Evansville. She was an elementary school teacher in Evansville, Indiana until the family moved to Sherman, in 1973, where she continued teaching. In the mid 1980's, she became a real estate broker and enjoyed the real estate profession for many years to follow. In 2000, her spiritual calling was surfacing, so she attended the University of Dallas where she received a Master's Degree in Theology. From that background began her endeavor to teach scripture study classes over many years, often traversing several hundred miles to teach in both Denison and Horseshoe Bay within the same week.

In both Evansville and Sherman, Patti was active in many religious and civic activities including the Sherman Service League, the St. Vincent De Paul Society, the St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society, the Texoma Pro-Life Association, the Shakespeare Club, P.E.O., and various other organizations. She was known in business circles for her impeccable integrity and friendly smile. She was an avid golfer, who loved the company of the groups she played with and always thought the only thing better than winning - was not losing.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday afternoon, November 23, 2016 at 1 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Denison, Texas. Rosary followed by Visitation will be at Waldo Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. Rosary will start at 6 p.m. with visitation at 6:30 p.m.

I believe Mrs Adami was my first grade teacher at Tekoppel Elementary School in Evansville, Indiana in 1966-1967... will always remember her as a beautiful, kind and patient person. Have wondered many times in my life how she was doing and where she lived. It is wonderful how many lives that she touched.
So sorry to hear of her passing. My prayers are with the family.

My sincere condolences to the family for the loss of your loved one. May prayers strengthen you and memories comfort you, and may our Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father, who loves us, comfort your hearts and "make you firm". (2 Thessalonians 2:16, 17)

Patti was a special person to me in high school as we were co-editors of our year book. She was a wonderful person to know and work with when we were younger. My thought for Darold and his family.
