Doug: I was sorry to hear the news about Pat. I I was out of town for a few weeks, so I'm sorry I did not get up with you at the time or be able to attend memorial service. I enjoyed the few times I was in her presence. I remember & was at your wedding & remember how pretty she looked. I hope you are holding up well & my best wishes to your children. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help or be of assistance. Love & special prayers to you. Stuart Lee

Pat was a good friend to me all of years at the Unitarian Church. She was always good for a hug, a kind and friendly word, a bit of humor and a chuckle, and information about some arts event she thought I would enjoy. I often saw her and Doug at cultural events.
Several years ago when I had heart surgery she looked in on me often and checked on me when I was recovering at home. She made me feel like family. Sorry Pat we never got to have our lunch out we were planning. I thank you for your friendship. I send you and Doug and your family thoughts of love and light.

I loved Pat. We worked together at UCN several times. The church held an incredible Celebration of Black Universalist history in the Hampton Roads area in 1994. It was a huge success largely because of Pat's efforts.

Pat was a bright spark to humanity. She was unfailingly accepting and eager to learn about the other person. She never promoted herself or her accomplishment, which were plentiful. She was appreciative of even the smallest gesture of kindness. I will miss her. Doug and Pat made magic.

Dear Uncle Doug, Suzanne, Marc, and the grandkids,
What a grand, wonderful lady the world has lost. Whether at Nags Head, or in Lynchburg, Petersburg or Norfolk, she was always warm and welcoming to me... and I will always cherish the fond place she will occupy in all the happy memories I have of growing up. I hope that soon all of you, too, will be able to think less of this sad time and more of your wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate her life one she always lived with flair and gusto.

So sorry to hear about Aunt Pat. I will miss her lively personality and flamboyant nature. I will miss her friendliness to me, especially during our visits to Nags Head. We hope you are comforted by all the wonderful memories you have of her and by her achievements in life.
