Patricia Donahue Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 23, 2022.

On August 19, 2022, Patricia Jean Donahue, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 65. Patti was born in Des Moines, Iowa on February 2, 1957, to Wilbert and Marjorie Wonderlin. She graduated from Iowa State University in 1979 with a degree in Textiles and Design and began her career at Ivey’s Department Store in the fashion department. Later in her career, she worked as a Human Resources Manager for Princeton Financial. She married her beloved husband, Thomas Donahue, on July 27, 1991, in Orlando, FL and together they raised four children, Thomas, Theresa, James, and John.

Patti and her family moved to Clermont, FL in 2003 on top of a hill overlooking Grassy Lake. Many of her evenings were spent taking walks to the lake and watching the sunset with her family. She was active in the church community throughout the years as a minister to the sick, Catechism teacher, and host for weekly rosary nights. With her children by her side, she brought cheer to shut-ins and residents at local nursing homes through regular weekly visits. Some of her favorite hobbies included sewing, gardening, and playing Scrabble with her husband. She had a special bond with animals and was deemed as the “favorite” by all the family pets. Patti was loved dearly by her family, friends, and church community. She lived her life passionately, sharing her bubbly personality, cheerful smile, and comforting spirit with everyone she came in contact with.

Patti is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Marjorie Wonderlin; sister, Sharon Labertew; and brothers, Roger Wonderlin and Mike Wonderlin. Survivors include her husband Tom, and children, Tommy and his wife Erica, Theresa, Jim and John. In addition, she leaves behind her siblings; Chuck (Minna) Wonderlin, Sherman (Judy) Wonderlin, Teri (Rich) Wonderlin; brother-in-law, Darrel Labertew; and sisters-in-law, Lori Wonderlin and Beth Wonderlin.

A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, August 25, 2022, 11am at Holy Family Catholic Church.  A reception will be held in the St. Patrick's Room at Holy FAmily immediately following the service. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 24, 2022, from 5pm until 8pm with a prayer service at 7pm, at Becker Funeral Home.

i am so saddened to learn of Patti’s passing. She was a dear friend when we both attended ISU. She was kind and so very funny. Unfortunately we lost touch after she married. On a whim I searched the internet for her tonight and found this page. Please know I will keep you in my prayers.

Jim and family - I was so saddened to hear of your mom’s passing. When I saw you and your dad walk in to Clermont City Hall I knew immediately what had happened. She was a special lady who cared for family, friends and all things of nature.

The day she passed her face popped in my head as I watched a funeral of a friend!s mom coming from Blessed Sacrament Church and I wondered how she was doing as I had not seen any of you since COVID started. I did not realize I was getting my answer at that moment and until you came to City Hall for info on Oak Hill Cemetery. May the Lord hold her in the palm of his hand and peace and blessings upon you and all your family.

I just received a note in the mail from Tom Donahue telling me about PattI going to the Lord on August 19. I am saddened for the family and her friends, however, I know that EYE has not seen, nor EAR has heard, nor the HEART of man can conceive what the LORD has in store for those who LOVE HIM.
FAITHFUL WAS THE WORD FOR PATTI. She was a wonderful model
of LOVE to all those, who ever had the opportunity to touch her life.
I met PATTI in the chapel of ST. MARY MAGDALEN CHURCH in the early 90’s as she prayed the rosary after mass every morning with a few of us before we went off to our jobs. She requested that we pray for her as she had just begun dating TOM and thought he might be the one the LORD wanted as her soulmate. Pray, we did, and surely TOM was the one and they were engaged later and married. She was always a GODLY WOMAN and she was blessed with children and a wonderful family life.
God incident, I was in another parish but just happened to go back to the same parish one particular SUNDAY and it happened to be the SUNDAY that PATTI AND TOM were baptizing their first child, TOMMY. Years went by and I moved to AVE MARIA, FLORIDA. I was in the parish church and standing room only as parents and students lined the walls accompanying their freshman youth in August for entrance in the AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY. I recognized Patti and motioned for HER to come and sit behind me with TOM.
THEY WERE BRINGING TOMMY to the UNIVERSITY HERE. OUR paths
crossed again. Certain people come in and out of our lives at different times but always remain in OUR HEARTS. PATTI AND TOM
are both types of these people, even though we didn’t see each other that often. They never forget you because they LOVE MUCH.
TOM, I know Patti will be forever in your heart. I also, know that GOD will give you peace knowing that she is sharing HIS BEATIFIC
VISION. We cannot deny her of that blessing. May GOD GIVE you all the peace that surpasses all understanding. You are all LOVED!

On behalf of John's many Dayton, Ohio friends, we wish we could be with you now in this sorrowful time. Thank you for the video so we could get to know your Mom a little--her beauty and spirit shine through. We cannot wait to see you very soon, and until then be assured of our prayers and the many graces showering down upon you all in your loss. We love you, John! Love is eternal.

I will always remember when she took me on a couple of walks with her to the top of the hill in the morning near the cabins at Catholic FamilyLand to pick flowers. Such a simple yet loving gesture to me as a little 5 year old girl. Her memory will always be a blessing ❤

I'm so so sorry to hear about Mrs Donahue’s passing. I have beautiful memories of her from Familyland, especially the year I stayed in your family’s cabin when my dad was sick. She treated me like a daughter and always made sure to catch up with me on the following summers or just over Skype with Theresa! Mr. Donahue, Tommy & Erica, Theresa, Jimmy, and Johnny, I love you so much, and you’re all in my prayers.
