Patricia Joan Gettings (nee Laffey), 85, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, of Bethlehem passed away on November 19, 2016. Born in Mineola, NY to Thomas and Mildred (Kenny) Laffey, Pat was a 1953 graduate of the University of Wisconsin where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. In May 1955, she married Peter J. Gettings in Racine, Wisconsin. Pat and Pete went on to live in Ohio, Illinois, New Jersey and Pennsylvania as they raised their five children. Pat was an accomplished artist, seamstress, cook and gardener. She was known for her always beautiful and uniquely appointed homes. An extremely prolific and accomplished rug hooker, her creations are works of art admired by many in the Lehigh Valley. Pat was also a great lover of animals, especially her dogs. Survivors: She is survived by her husband, Peter Gettings, and her children, Thomas Gettings (Maureen) of Lake Forest IL, Elizabeth Gettings (David Lynch) of Houston TX, Peter Gettings (Kirsten) of Chicago IL, Colleen Gettings of Chicago IL and Matthew Gettings of Bethlehem PA, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Thomas Laffey. Services: Private services will be held. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any donations be made to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be made offered online at www.connellfuneral.com.

A beautifully written obituary. She was a special wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. We will all miss her and see her again someday. Our prayers go out to all of you in this sad time. She too will be remembered in our prayers.
