Patricia B. Hackler, age 87, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023. Patsy, as she was affectionately known to her friends and family, was born on September 27, 1935, to Paris Russell Burn Sr, and Elizabeth Turner Burn. She was outgoing and strong willed, and successfully completed whatever she set out to accomplish. She had a bachelor of fine arts in theology from Northwestern University, and a master’s degree in education from New Mexico State University. She served the Christian Church for many years, teaching Sunday School to many. She loved to entertain and had a great gift of hospitality to both family and friends. She married the love of her life George Hackler in August 1958. She taught Kindergarten for over 25 years and took great pride in the education of young minds. She was an avid bridge player, achieving the rank of Silver Life Master. She was instrumental in the purchase and renovation of the Belton Bridge Center in Las Cruces, and owned and ran her own game for many years. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; and will be greatly missed. Patricia is preceded in death by her parents; Paris Russell Burn Sr. and Elizabeth Turner; and her siblings; Paris Russell Burn Jr., Elizabeth Corbett and Margaret Brittle. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years; George Riburn Hackler; her children; Lisa Jane Hackler, Polly Hackler Vaughn and Mark Riburn Hackler; her grandchildren; Nicholas Vaughn (Angeli), Jamie Vaughn Aranda (Gabe), Heather Vaughn-Arnold (Shane), Eric Hackler and Andrew Hackler (Madi); and her great-grandchildren; Lauren Vaughn, Riburn Arnold, Viviann Arnold and Emily Vaughn. She is also survived by many extended family and friends to cherish and honor her memory.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Friday September 1, 2023, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church; 518 N. Alameda Dr., Las Cruces NM.
