Patricia Keliher Obituary
Born in Detroit in 1933, Patricia earned degrees from the University of Michigan and Wayne State University, reflecting her lifelong love of learning. In 1951, she married Evan Keliher, her partner until his passing in 2016. Together they raised three sons-Alan, Dave, and Brian-instilling in them curiosity, kindness, and humor.
Patricia spent 25 years as an elementary teacher and librarian in Dearborn, nurturing a love of reading in countless children. After moving to San Diego in 1991, she continued sharing her passion for books for another decade with the public library.
A devoted caretaker of many cats, Patricia enjoyed afternoons reading, Friday evenings listening to piano at La Valencia, and time with her granddaughter. She will be remembered for her sharp humor ("Grandma is on the roof!") and her dedication to learning.
She is survived by her sons and their partners, Alan (Vicki), Dave (Ling), and Brian (Christina), and her granddaughter Emily.
Friends are invited to honor Patricia by reading to a child, supporting their library, or caring for an animal in need.
