Patricia Maggitti Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 13, 2025.
Patricia Ann (Abbott) Maggitti, a longtime resident of Whitehall, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025, at Fellowship Manor. She was born on May 13, 1936, in Darby, PA, the daughter of the late Harry J. and Frances (Lesczynski) Abbott.

Patricia was married to Deacon Alexander L. Maggitti for 61 years until his passing in 2015. A devoted member of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church since 1956, she served as parish secretary from 1964 to 1969 and remained active in parish life throughout her years. Beginning in 1973, she participated in the Cursillo Movement of the Diocese of Allentown and continued her involvement for many years.

Her commitment to service extended to her role as a hospice volunteer with Diacon Hospice Saint John, where she offered comfort through the "Nobody Dies Alone" program. Professionally, Patricia worked for two decades as a secretary at Devon Industries in Allentown.

She found great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. An avid reader and lifelong Frank Sinatra fan, she also enjoyed following the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, and 76ers.

Patricia is survived by her daughters: Linda Schiller (Robert), Gloria Johnson (James), Geri Duke (Michael Crilley), and Paula Engle (Scott); sons: Alexander Jr. (Patricia) and Patrick (Sara); twelve grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Alexander; grandsons James Johnson Jr. and Alexander Maggitti III; sons-in-law William Kressly and Jeffrey Duke; brothers Harry Jr., Frank (Elisabeth), and Joseph (Bernardine); and sisters Gertrude Seal (John) and Harriet Byrnes (George).

Pat's family would like to thank the staff and Community at Fellowship for their compassion, dedication and care they gave to her throughout her years as a resident.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Joseph J. Kweder on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 618 Fullerton Avenue, Whitehall, PA 18052. Family will receive guests from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. Interment will follow at Laurel Cemetery, Whitehall.

Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Elizabeth Regional School, 433 Pershing Blvd., Whitehall, PA 18052.

The Gilbert Funeral Home of Whitehall is honored to handle her arrangements.

Linda,
I saw this and of course recognized the name. Losing parents is difficult. Take solace in the fact that you had her for a long time. Your mom had to be good! After all, she made you.

Love,
Tony Conticelli

I´ve known Pat since I was a kid riding the bus with her kids to school at St Elizabeth. She watched my son after school when I worked. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She will be missed.

I wish to express my deep sympathy in the loss of Patricia Maggitti's family. She was my Aunt and a special person whom I loved since I was a child living across the street from her & parents on Beverly Avenue.
Uncle Alex was my mothers brother who I loved since I was born.
I am sad that she passed, but glad I had her in my life. We all have been very close. Mary Lou

Pat and I have been friends for a long time. We shared so many things together. I loved our dinners at Applebees. That was her place. I am happy she is at peace and reunited with her beloved Al. Rest in peace my friend.
