Patricia Massad Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 29, 2025.
Patricia Cowan Massad, 89, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, in Bullard, Texas. Born on January 26, 1936, in Mineola, Texas, Patricia lived a rich and vibrant life filled with creativity, resilience, and a deep love for her family.

The daughter of Alfred and Connie Cowan and the youngest of five siblings, Patricia was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She carried forward their legacy with strength and grace, embodying the enduring spirit of those who came before her.

Patricia began her academic journey at Texas Christian University (TCU), where she nurtured a lifelong passion for learning. Her intellectual curiosity remained a guiding force throughout her life-a trait that inspired those around her to embrace knowledge with enthusiasm.

Her professional path began in retail before she stepped into entrepreneurship, owning two businesses. Patricia's drive and determination were evident in everything she pursued. She balanced her activities with an unwavering devotion to her family, always placing loved ones at the center of her world.

She was a devoted mother to Susan Collins and son-in-law Michael; Sally Campbell and son-in-law David; Brooks Brown; and Pam Humphrey and son-in-law Kevin. Her joy multiplied through her grandchildren-Lauren, Shawn, Cameron, Morgan, Ryan, Rachel-and grandson-in-law Jack-each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Patricia was preceded in death by her first husband Donald Brown, father to her children, as well as by her second husband Joy Massad. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout the years.

A woman of many talents and interests, Patricia found joy in nurturing life as a certified Master Gardener. Her green thumb brought beauty wherever she went. She also expressed herself through ceramics and delighted others with her exceptional cooking skills-especially during holidays when she brought loved ones together around a festive table.

In the final years of Patricia's life, she resided in a care facilitiy where she continued to be cherished not just for who she had been but for who she remained-a witty woman with sharp humor and an unmistakable spark. Her family extends heartfelt thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice staff for providing not only essential care but also thoughtful gestures that made all the difference: painting her fingernails, sharing laughs over Brad Pitt and Patrick Mahomes fandoms, and honoring her love for meaningful connection.

Special gratitude is also extended to the laundry, housekeeping, dietary, and nursing staff at Blue Bonnet Point Wellness. Many employees went above and beyond-bringing photos of Brad Pitt, gifting dolls, sharing stories-and ensuring that Patricia's attire reflected the beauty queen spirit she carried within.

Patricia was beautiful and intelligent-a red-headed force who left an indelible mark on everyone around her. Life presented challenges along the way that left their mark too-but true to form, she met them with resilience and fire. She was complicated yet captivating; wounded at times but never defeated; unforgettable in every sense.

In accordance with her wishes, a private graveside memorial service with family will be held at Roselawn Cemetery in Mineola.

May Patricia's memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her-and may the stories shared in remembrance continue to celebrate the remarkable woman she was.
