Patricia McAdams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 9, 2024.
Patricia "Patsy" Bohon McAdams was a rare gem, whose light now shines brightly in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Known to many by her endearing nicknames - "Patsy Mc," "P-Mc," "P-Macaroni," or "Mamaw Patsy" - Patsy touched the hearts of all who knew her with her infectious laughter, boundless energy, and a gift for creating unforgettable memories with family and friends.

Patsy was born and raised in West Point, Mississippi. Her spiritual journey began at First Christian Church of West Point Mississippi where she was baptized as an early teenager. After graduating from West Point High School in 1974, she attended Mississippi University for Women, earning a degree in retail merchandising. In the summer of 1981, a mutual friend introduced Patsy to John "Lee" McAdams on a blind date, and their connection was immediate. They married on December 5th, 1981 and in 1982 relocated to Memphis, Tennessee to begin their lives together. It was there that Patsy spotted a charming little church just down the street from their apartment. With a little encouragement, she took Lee by the hand and walked with him to Park Village Christian Church, Memphis (later to become East Win Christian Church, Memphis, and presently Oak Lane Christian Church in Collierville, TN), where they remained members for more than 42 years. In 1985, Lee and Patsy moved to Olive Branch, Mississippi, where they raised two children and many beloved pets. Patsy's passions were as varied as they were heartfelt - from cooking, sewing, and quilting, to disco-dancing, tailgating at Mississippi State games, teaching, supporting her children in all their activities, and traveling with family. She also cherished her role in the church by attending regularly and serving in many capacities, to include her favorite, the nursery. Above all, she will be remembered for her radiant smile, her contagious laugh, and her unwavering love for others.

Patsy is survived by her devoted husband, John Lee McAdams of Olive Branch, MS; daughter Mary-Anne McAdams Runner (Brian Runner), Hernando, MS; son William Porter McAdams (Alivia McAdams), Nesbit, MS; and six grandchildren: Alee Peyton McAdams (10), Walker Allen McAdams (8), Noah Porter Runner (7), Ethan Kermit Runner (4), McKinley Reese McAdams (4), and Ruby Elizabeth Runner (1). She is also survived by her brother, Danny Rane Bohon (Heather Bohon) of West Point, MS, sister-in-law Reba Ellis (Steve Ellis) of Columbus, MS and brothers-in-law, Herman Val McAdams Jr. (Lexa McAdams) of Maryville, TN, William David McAdams (Jan McAdams), Huntsville, AL and Ken Howell, Lebanon, TN as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Porter Floyd Bohon Sr. and Mary Walean Rustin Bohon of West Point, MS; her brother, Porter Floyd Bohon Jr. of Starkville, MS ; her nephews, Adam and Cameron Bohon of West Point, MS ; niece Jenny Bohon, West Point, MS; father-in-law, Herman Val McAdams Sr. and mother-in-law, Ruby Anne McAdams of Starkville, MS; and sister-in-law, Anne Mallory Howell, Lebanon, TN.

A reception for friends and family will be held at Oak Lane Christian Church (10611 Collierville Rd, Collierville, TN) , on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a service celebrating Patsy's life.
