Patricia (Pat) Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 18, 2025.
Patricia (Pat) Smith of Land O Lakes, FL, passed away on January 6, 2025, at the age of 81 from Alzheimer's disease. Pat was in the loving care of Gulfside Hospice, whose wonderful support and kind staff made a terrible time bearable. She leaves behind her loving partner, Deb Zimmer, her devoted dog Boomer and many cherished friends and family. Pat is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Margo and Randy Burris, daughter and son-in-law, Rose and Ron Klimley, and son and daughter-in-law, James Patrick "JP" and Lea Smith, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her older "sis", Marj VanDenBush. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy Wilcox, brother, Ralph Kunkle Jr, sister, Gloria Bogia, nephew, Wade Rosengrant, niece, Valerie Bogia, and parents, Evelyn and Ralph Kunkle, Sr.

In the 90s, Pat left the cold and the gray of Rochester, NY to move to Florida. She loved being outdoors in the sunshine. She enjoyed any activity in or around water and was an avid canoeist, shark tooth hunter, shell collector and swimmer. Pat loved to paint and she found great joy in painting special pieces for her family and friends. She was a very social person who enjoyed karaoke, dancing, happy hours with neighbors, and family gatherings. Those who knew her well, especially those who knew her before Alzheimer's took its toll, will miss her warm smile, her hearty laugh, her wonderful sense of humor, her ditzy moments, her kindness, and her genuinely loving soul. Oh, and they'll miss her fudge!

A Celebration of Life will be planned for a future date, where those who love and miss Pat can gather to remember and celebrate her life.
