Patricia Ryle Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 15, 2025.
Patricia Ann Ryle, 75, of Dennisport, MA died on January 12, 2025 from complications related to ovarian cancer. Pat was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, teacher, and friend.

Pat was born in Everett, MA in 1949 to the late Thomas and Florence (O'Brien) Ryle. Pat grew up in Braintree, MA alongside her six younger brothers. Pat was predeceased by her brothers: Mark, Stephen, Christopher and John (Denise) Ryle. Pat is survived by her aunt Regina (O'Brien) McGrath, her brothers Thomas Ryle and Damian (Karen) Ryle, her children Kelly (Colin) Farrell and Kevin (Corinne) Nagle, her niece Courtney (Matthew) Migel and nephew Matthew Ryle. Pat is survived by her seven grandchildren: Mick, Jimmy, Ben, Lucy, Ellie, Shane, and Cormac. She is further survived by many cousins grand-nieces and nephews, friends and colleagues.

Pat had a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Computer Education. Pat was a public school teacher for many years and touched the lives of countless students. She was a lifelong athlete, coach and competitive swimmer into her sixties. Pat was a world traveler, visiting numerous countries in Europe, Asia, and South America. She was a road warrior. On a whim, she would pack up any number of her brothers, cousins, children or grandchildren to go on an 'adventure.'

Pat spent her time in recent years doting on her seven grandchildren, advocating for cancer research, volunteering with the Lions Club, and working with the AAUW and the League of Women Voters. She will be missed and well-remembered.

Pat was a long time member of the League of Women Voters of the Cape Cod Area. She worked closely with me on the Legislative Committee working to support legislation that we believed would benefit citizens of Massachussetts. She was a wonderful asset and a very warm and caring human being and I counted her as one of my friends. I knew she was ill and in a constant fight for her health but I hoped and prayed that she would be with us for a much longer time. She will be missed by many in the League and her community.

I´m so sad for her brothers Tommy and Damien. And her children Kelly and Kevin. She always had the courage and the grit to pursue her dreams and invite anyone that wanted to join her. Being the consummate older sister her eyes were always on her brothers, even when they were adults. I remember being 9 years old and Patty and I were all dressed up and went to see our first play. It was Alice in wonderland with Aunt Marion and Uncle Leo. Through the years we spent many fun times together. At her grandmothers parties. With our families in Humarock. Visiting in Fort Myers Beach, FL. We took her sailing in the Gulf of Mexico and cooked dinner on the grill on the boat. Keep her memories close to your hearts and she will never be forgotten.

It started in admiration.
Before start of class each day, Pat had prepped her 5 brothers with lunchs and direction to buses before she arrived to Sacred Heart, often times late.
She was "a Giver" of whatever she had at her disposal. If adversity is the forge of character then she was tempered steel. Her brothers counted on her 24/7. She put herself last. Through grit and perserverance, she educated herself to her long & successful career as a teacher and real estate agent.

Last week, her classmates of SH "67" learned that Pat lost her health battle.

It ended in admiration.

I am so sad to see this, She was such a good friend to me in High School, I regret that I didn't keep in touch. I will be retiring soon and that was one of the things I planned to do was look up old friends, I'm sure she will be missed by all who knew her.
