Patricia Thorsley

THORSLEY, Patricia Ann It is with great sadness we announce the death of Patricia Ann Thorsley (Patricia Ison) on January 5, 2011. Born on May 30, 1947 in Edmonton, Alberta, Pat attended Strathcona High School and the University of Alberta. Pat taught Home Economics in Edmonton and Calgary, where she also worked as a real estate agent. She subsequently became disabled as a result of multiple chemical sensitivities and chronic fatigue, symptoms of what later became known as fibromyalgia. These debilitating conditions led her to Jamaica and on to the Vega Macrobiotic Center in Oroville, California where her disability needs were accommodated and she was productive in the running of the education center. She then moved to New Liskeard, Ontario where she did some substitute teaching before moving to Toronto. Her last 16 years were spent at the Windmill Line Co-operative where she volunteered on the Political Action Committee and the Action for Inclusion Committee. Pat's final battle was with breast cancer during which time she met a helping angel. Luisa Vianzon made daily visits to Pat in the hospital, bringing gifts of comfort and prayers to both Pat and her family. We are eternally grateful for God's gift of Luisa during this trying time. Left to mourn the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend are her mother Myrtle Thorsley of Edmonton; her brother Doug and his wife Janet of Toronto; her sister Jan and husband Ernie of Phoenix, AZ; nephews Jeff (Kirsten) Nowlin, Mark (Susie) Thorsley, Ryan (Karen) Thorsley; nieces Jill Nowlin and Kristin Thorsley; and Luisa Vianzon. Pat's family wishes to thank Dr. Peter Brodie and the nursing staff of Providence Healthcare for their loving care during this past year. A Memorial Service will be held in the Windmill Line Co-operative at 123 Scadding Avenue on January 22 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Ellingham officiating.
