Patricia "Patsy" Johnson Tipton, age 58, of Culpeper, Va. died Friday, November 28, 2008 at Culpeper Regional Hospital after fighting a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born March 31, 1950 in Johnson City, Tenn. to the late Howard and Opal Leonard Johnson.

Patsy is a 1968 graduate of Science Hill High School in Johnson City and a 1972 graduate of East Tennessee State where she was a member of Alpha Omega Phi Sorority. Through the years Patsy held positions in teaching, office management, and real estate management. The focus of her life, however, was her love and devotion to her family.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Erwin Tipton; daughter, Julie McDannel and her husband, Rey, of Warrenton, Va.; her son, Scott Tipton and his fianc?, Carmela Marin, of Culpeper and two grand-children, Tori Elaine Tipton and Tyler Nathaniel Tipton. Additional survivors include her sister, Janet Westerfield and her husband, Larry, of Johnson City, Tenn.; her aunt, Elva McCartt, of Johnson City, Tenn.; dear friends, Jerry and Reva Huff, of Culpeper and several very special nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 30, 2008 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at 4:30 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Dr. Ted Fuson and the Rev. Marshall Braylo officiating.

An additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home, Highway 81 and 11-E, Jonesboro, TN 37659. A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Jerry Everley officiating.

Interment will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Limestone Free Will Baptist Cemetery in Limestone, Tenn.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Huff, Charles Balfour, her nieces and nephews and friends at Culpeper Little League.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Family Care Home Health and Hospice, 610 Laurel St., Ste. 2, Culpeper, VA 22701.

The family wishes to send a very special thank you to Jeanette Jennings and to all the staff of Family Care Home Health and Hospice.
