Patricia Curry Wright
July 20, 1933 - September 21, 2020
Lexington, Kentucky - On September 21, 2020, Vivian and Sarah-Charles Wright lost their beautiful mother, age 87. She lived at home, with the help of family, friends and caregivers.
Patricia graduated from the University of KY. with degrees in Philosophy and English, and was a loyal member of Kappa Delta Sorority, . During her married years, she was an active volunteer in scouting, politics, Sierra Club, Planned Parenthood, MNEMCO (Lexington's beautification committee), and the Lexington Art League, where she mastered her artistic talents through drawing and painting. Later, as a displaced Homemaker, in the early 70's, she returned to U.K., earning a Master's degree in Social Work. In her profession, she used her gifts in communication, creativity, and leadership. and later became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a profession she loved, until retirement.
Patricia loved to learn, and enjoyed books, people, nature, animals, Georgia O'keeffe, KET, and NPR, and learning new things about anthropology, history, architecture, and archeology. She cherished her cats, as members of her family. Art, piano music, and trees were her passions. . Rarely was she bored, always finding something to read or draw, or by puttering around the house.
Patricia was a light bearer. She had the mental fortitude and resilience of an old growth Redwood tree. Her work helped change the world for the better, one relationship at a time.
In later years, illnesses, robbed her of her passions and memories, but she never lost her smile, or the memories of the people she loved and knew so well.
A graveside service will be held at the Lexington Cemetery on July 31 at 11:00 am. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, 166 Market St. Lexington on August 1 at 1:00 pm., visitation follows, the service. All are welcome to stop by.
