Patrick CONWAY Obituary
October 9, 1926 - April 1, 2014
Patrick Francis Conway was born in Ballivor, County Meath, Ireland to Thomas Conway and Margaret Callan. He died peacefully at the Foothills Hospital April 1, 2014 in his 88th year. He was predeceased by his wife Mary Goggin, brother Sean and sisters Maire and Maev. Patrick is survived by his children Tom (Linda) of Ottawa, Deirdre (Kees) of Guelph, Diarmuid of Vancouver, Grainne of Halifax, Aoife (Dan) of Haliburton and Patrick of Sundre. He is also survived by his siblings Eithne, Ultan, Loman and Aoife, all of Ireland as well as 12 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Patrick received his medical degree from University College Dublin in 1951. He and Mary immigrated to Canada in 1955. He worked as a general practitioner in Newfoundland for five years before returning to training in psychiatry in Saskatoon and North Battleford. He started his general psychiatry practice in Calgary in 1965 and worked there until his retirement just a few years ago. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Sacred Heart Church, 1307 - 14 Street S.W. in Calgary. Your Father was My second father for approximately 25 years until his retirement. I only now found out of his passing, only 2 years after my biological father. We were both his patients. Never did I come to his office each Tuesday without our hugging and my giving him a kiss on the cheek, and on leaving an hour later! He , not my sister, let me know when she was on the top 10 realtors list, which was often! He had such common sense, and when ill or finding myself in a difficult situation, I still ask myself what "Dr. Conway would have advised me", so he does live on though me and shall be a guide for life! This is my good fortune. He keeps me grounded while I carry with me through life, the wisdom he imparted to me. He also took calls at home, not believing to unlist his phone number , he truly lived the Hippocratic Oath. may he rest in peace ! Cheryl Smith Sorokin

I have so many fond memories growing up with the Conway family, especially spending so much time at my home away from home on Prospect Ave. Loved your father and mother dearly and remember how kind they were to all.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences. While I am directing my sincere wishes to all of the extended family, I want to let Tom know that I feel for him, having lost my father more than sixteen years ago now. Tom knows however that he is supported at this difficult time by his many friends at the Law Society in Ontario.
