Patrick Garrity Obituary
Born in Pottsville, Sept. 17, 1940, he was a son of the late Edward Miles and Genevieve Matuscavage Garrity.
After graduating from Nativity BVM High School in 1958, he enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Canberra.
He worked at Reneer Films, Auburn, as a quality control inspector.
Patrick was a member of St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, Port Carbon.
He married his beloved wife, Mary Ann Codi Garrity, on Thanksgiving Day in 1965. They were married for 42 years before her death on Dec. 9, 2007.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Christopher Garrity, in 1989; and a brother, Edward Garrity.
He is survived by his daughter, Coleen Marie Garrity, Palo Alto; three grandchildren, Ethan C. Garrity, Aidan and Weston Cairns, Fort Worth, Texas; three brothers, John Garrity and Francis Garrity, both of Saint Clair, and Mark Garrity, Lake Wynonah; a sister, Kathleen Phillips, Pottsville; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen Church, Port Carbon, with Monsignor Edward S. Zemanik as the celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon. Interment with military honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hillside, Pottsville. In lieu of flowers, donation in Patrick's name can be sent to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 and/or Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, Pottsville, PA 17901. Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ethan first let me tell u how much joy and how proud your grandfather was of you. When he spoke about u his face lit up were he was glowing. I'm sorry for your loss but keep the good memories close to your heart. You know he's with his love. She was so proud of u I could write a book. Go figure the way she wrote and told the best stories. One day I hope you marry and have children of your own to tell them all about those two special people that you were very lucky to have . Love you and again Ethan I'm so sorry for your loss.
