PATRICK HALLORAN Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 17, 2011.
HALLORAN PATRICK J.
Patrick J. Halloran, 35, formerly of the Lehigh Valley, died as a result of a car accident in Vermont on February 1, 2011. Born in Hoboken, NJ, Patrick was the son of William Halloran of Bethlehem and the late Joyce (O'Brien) Halloran of the Lehigh Valley. Patrick attended The Cathedral School of St. Catharine in Allentown, PA, and was co-captain of the 1988 State Championship basketball team, coached by Bill Ford. A 1993 graduate of William Allen High School, Patrick went on to study film and literature at the University of Pittsburgh. He was a gifted comedic songwriter, both with his first band, Peanut Butter and Julie, and most recently with Ceann, the most successful of his enterprises. Pat and friend Marc Wisnosky founded Ceann in 1998 in Pittsburgh. Their popularity was marked by songs such as "The Worst Pirate Song," "Blame the Viking," "The Famous Allentonian Club," and NPR Song of the Day "Pretty on the Inside." Patrick and his band-mates made frequent appearances on WZZO's Bearman and Keith show and were featured in numerous Irish festivals and St. Patrick's Day parades across the country, including Allentown's. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Lehigh County Division 1. Survivors: Patrick will be lovingly remembered by his father, William Halloran; his siblings, William Halloran of Chicago, IL, Moira Halloran of Bethlehem, Deirdre wife of Sean Connors of Breinigsville, Brian Halloran of Sunnyside, NY, and Julia wife of Charles Reisse of Lansdale; and his nephews and nieces Andrew, Sarah, Hannah, Delaney, Maisey, Declan, Wyatt, Charlotte and Molly. Services: Memorial, 11:00 a.m. Sat. 2/19/2011 at the Maingate, 448 North 17th Street Allentown, PA 18104 Memorials: in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Allentown St. Patrick's Parade, Inc. c/o Phillip Ferguson, 1025 Limestone St. N. I am on travel in DC, and was driving past Murphy's in Old Town, where I first saw the band probably 4 years ago. When I got back to the hotel, I went to the web site to see if, just by luck, the guys were playing tonight, and I could go by and have a pint and a few good belly laughs.
I was really saddened to learn what had happened and my deepest condolences go out to all of Patrick's family. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, saw the band first in Alexandria, and went to see them every chance I got in Virginia Beach where I live now. Every time, I had a blast and always had a nice word with Patrick or Brian or one of the other guys.
Really really sorry for your loss....thankfully Patrick leaves behind a whole lot of great memories for a whole lot of people.

We just now found out about Patrick's death and just cannot believe he is gone. We first saw Patrick and his band at the Pa. Renaissance Faire several years ago and could not stop talking about him -- how talented he was. Because of him and Ceann, we came back the next year and bought a CD as well. We will miss him so much. He was so much fun to watch and listen to. The Ren Faire will not be the same without him and Ceann. The world will not be the same without him. Our condolences to his family. This must be devastating, and your hearts must be aching. May God be with you. Ginni Linn and Steve Lesher, Camp Hill and Lititz, PA

My deepest condolences go out to Patrick's friends, family and band mates. The only reason I didn't see Ceann's every show at Murphy's in Old Town over the past few years was because I travel often. Pat and his band were one constant I could depend on and look forward to - some of my fondest memories with my best friends are nights singing along to his words. He will be missed in OT. Few are as "Pretty on the Inside" and talented on the outside, as he was.

Poor Dear Patrick...Just heard the news last night while at The Blackthorne Inn. I couldn't believe it. My deepest sympathy to the family. I'm so sorry for your loss and the loss to us fans. It was just last September when I enjoyed the music and craic, and danced and laughed. I found it hard to understand when they told me. I guess heaven needed another good person...

I did not know Patrick but just heard the Bearman and Keith pay tribute to him on the radio while driving to work this morning. They played his Famous Allentonian Song and it was very entertaining. Sending thoughts your way - sad to see such a talented individual loose their life at such a young age. I'll be sure to tell my friends about him and make them listen to this song...he'll be on our minds as we listen to the song. God Bless Pat and his family during this very sad time.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to your family. I knew Patrick from his many shows with Ceann over the last few years. He was always extremely funny, talented, and always took time to sit and visit, even though there were many demands on his time. He made me, and those who were fortunate enough to spend some time with him feel like we were the most important conversation in the room.

He will be greatly missed.
