Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Kenny Family know that we recently made a small donation to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund in honor of Patrick B. Kenny US Marine Lance Corporal. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Dearest Kenny Family,
In sincere remembrance of Patrick. May we forever pray for Patrick and all our soldiers. We must always remember those who served our country well. I prayed and was deeply humbled during Patrick's mass at Assumption Chuch, and will forever remember in thankful prayer Patrick along with Chuck Downey and Tom Vandling whom also served their beloved country with honor far beyond the call of duty. When a hero comes along -- I say, "God bless and thank you...Patrick, Chuck and Tom.

To the Kenny's:
I want you to know how much I love you all and how much I love Patrick. I went and sat with him yesterday and I just cried. I still can't believe it has been 3 years. I miss him everyday and I want you to know he will NEVER NEVER NEVER be forgotten. I tell everyone about him and want people to know the sacrifice he made and the amazing, selfless, humble person he was. I love you as if you were my family, and am sorry everyday for the loss of Patrick. He had an impact on everyone he met and people were lucky to have known him and have him in their lives. I know I was. So next month we celebrate his birthday, but everyday we celebrate his life and what he meant to all of us. I love you Patrick, and NEVER will I stop.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Patrick, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I can't say Pat and I were close friends but we talked and that's all that was necessary for me to never forget this great man who served our country. To this day, I still recall the conversation we had one night about joining the Marines as I too was suppose to ship off to boot camp 02 July 2001 but never saw the day. He was so excited and couldn't wait until his senior year to start the DEP.
He will never be forgotten!

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

To the Kenny family I offer you my heart felt sympathy. I know you have a deep sense of pride of the footprint Pat left in life. along with a loss no one but a parent can feel. Our sons served in 2/2 together but in different companies. Sean was in Easy co. and was lost to us 1/24/06 in Al Karma also. I am still amazed at the dedication of the men we raised. I know of the struggle you go thru each day, as we go thru it with you. I don't know of any magic phrase I could say to have it make sense. Just know that you are not alone, never will be. I was so sorry to hear about the Kenny Family lose when Katy called my mom and told her. I was at MCT training back in October and wondered why Katy wasn't there. Me and Katy were best friends through boot camp and she always talked so highly about Patrick. When ever she talked about him her face would just light up. Her stories of him were enough to motivate anyone. As I get ready to leave for Iraq in Augaust I think of him and how he paid the ultimate sacrafice for our country. You guys are still always in my prayers...Katy I love and miss you so much!

To the Family of Lance Cpl. Patrick B. Kenny:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05 who was also from Pittsburgh, PA. I found your soldier's name from a guestbook you signed and so I wanted to read all about this man and sign his book.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort. When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Kenny:
My deepest sincerest sympathy on the loss of your brave and handsome son Patrick. I was very saddened to hear of your loss. You do not know me but I attended your son's funeral along with my brother who is a Vietnam Vet. We expressed our sympathy to several of the Marines that attended his service that day. I also have a young daughter, 23 years old who is serving with the US Navy in Afghanistan at this time. Her base is heavily protected by the Marines. I can not find the words to express my thanks for the service your Son has given to our country. I have Patrick's picture at home on my refrigerator and I will say a prayer for him and your family every day. I will also pray to keep your daughter safe as well. God bless you and your family and may He give you strength.
Sincerely,

This past June my brother Lcpl.Kevin Joyce was declared dead.I also know what it feels like to have the military personnel come to you home late at night.I know there is nothing I can say or do that will make everything better. Dear Kenny family,
I am extremely sorry for your loss, though i did not know patrick personally, i know that he must have been an amazing person. I heard about Patrick through my mother, who is a good friend of the Garrity's. It deeply saddened me. I am inspired by Patrick, and I cannot express my gratitude for his service to our country. There is a country song by Kenny Chesney about someone who dies too young, and every time I hear it, I think of Patrick. He will be in my heart always.

To the Kenny family:
I wish to offer my heartfelt condolences and for you to know you are all in my prayers. While I did not personally know Patrick, I attended school with the family. I have great memories of playing summer-league softball under Mr. Kenny, and seeing what a loving, close-knit family he has. By the kindness you showed to all on and off the ballfield, I have no doubt that your son carried this same kindness wherever he went. I will always be grateful to the sacrifice he made representing our country.
God Bless.

To the Lcpl. Patrick B. Kenny family and friends:
John 3:16-17 For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not die, but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its savior.
I did not know your son, brother, relative or friend. When I saw his picture on the bulletin board at work, in the newspaper and on television, I had great admiration for him, but sadness for those that had him in their life. My great grandfather was in the Civil War, I had a brother serve in Vietnam, have had family and friends in the military all of my life and currently have a stepson, Gregory Hoegle, in Iraq.
I have read so many articles about Patrick and many of them brought tears to my eyes and joy to my spirit. I know he will always be missed by those that love him, but those that know God and are born-again spiritually will see him again when God calls each of us home. Our family sends our sympathy.

Kenny family,
My father has been the school's photographer for many years, and he always had kind words to say of all the Kenny kids; of how energetic and friendly they were to everyone. I am sure this is very true of Patrick. I never had the chance to meet him personally, but I trust my father when he says what a great kid he was. When my father called to tell me the news he had heard from the school, it scared me to know that someone close to my age had died for our country and died for my rights and freedoms. Patrick had to have been a brave young man, and while I and my family express deepest sorrows for your loss, we also thank you for what he sacrified for us all.
Sincerely

"I was LCpl Kenny's Senior Drill Instructor, Platoon 3068, MCRD Parris Island SC, Graduated 29 Aug 2003. I would like to extend my sympathy to his family and friends. I spent 3 months with this extrordinary individual, and was proud to make him a Marine. He served his country bravely and gave the ultimate sacrifice. Out of the 8 platoons in graduated from 2001-2004 I have lost 10 former recruits in Iraq. I hope the Spirit and Discipline I tried to instill in these great men proved effective on the battlefield."

On behalf of myself and my family, we are deeply sorrowed by the loss of your son. I was once asked by a former soldier, "If you were point man on a recon and you just tripped a trip wire that was connected to a land mine, what would you do?" Without hesitation I responded, "I would dive on it to save the other's." He said, "You must have been a marine,"...proudly, I said, "absolutely!" Such is the mind-set of a marine as I am certain such was the case with your son. He gave his life without hesitation and with total unselfishness and for that we are truly proud of him. Uncommon valor was a common virtue. Respectfully submitted, a former marine, George

To the kenny family,
Pat and I were never what you would call friends, but he was still one of the nicest people at school. We would pass in the hallways and he would smile and say hello, he would always go that extra mile to make me smile when having a bad day. Pat was a wonderful person, and I will miss him alot. I'm very very sorry for your loss.

Trish, Chuck, Maggie, Molly and Katy...
Where to begin...Life has taken Chris, Lindsay, Logan and now me to Jacksonville, FL. It's true that the only thing you can depend on in life is change...The good 'ol days are just that...found memories of youngsters in baseball uniforms, batting helmets that didn't fit, skinned knees and the concession stand...Any time I ever saw Patrick, whether at ACCORD Park, Giant Eagle, the school or just around town he always made a point of saying "Hello, Mrs. Betteridge"..always with a smile...a gentleman even as a kid. Know that we all share in your loss and keep Patrick and all of you in our thoughts and prayers.

Chuck, Trish, Maggie, Molly, and Katy - Our hearts go out to you. You are a wonderful and strong family, and we hope you find comfort and peace in knowing what a wonderful young man you raised. Patrick was an all-around wonderful human being, and we all have our own special memories of him, from Northgate/Avonworth wrestling, Eagles football, Lopes football and just everyday life. We will always find comfort in looking on our walls and in our photo albums at the many football pictures with Patrick in them. We are all so proud of him, and we feel honored to have known him. Thank you Patrick for being so brave and serving our country and for the memories!
