Patrick Marsden Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 31, 2018.
MARSDEN - Patrick J. "Pat" of Smithtown, NY and Ormond Beach, FL, beloved husband of Helena M. Marsden (nee Feehan) for 54 years, passed away on December 29, 2018. He was the loving father of John (Margaret) of Midway, KY, Alexandra Hickey (Jack) of Rye, NY, and Robert (Kathy) of Fairfield, CT; and cherished grandfather to Ryan, Liam, Matthew, Kieran, Will, Lauren, and Patrick. He is survived by brothers Hugh (Anna) of Australia; Jimmy (Kay), Noel (Helen), and Aidan of Ireland; sisters Margaret and Finola (Bernard) of France, and Maeve (Tommy) and Joan (Ollie) of Ireland. Pat was born in Ire-land on July 29, 1935 to the late James P. Marsden and Gertrude M. Marsden (nee Kelly) and grew up in Longford. He immigrated to New York City in 1957. Pat played Gaelic football in Longford and at Gaelic Park in the Bronx, NY. He served his country as an officer in the United States Army in Korea between 1958 and 1960. He was later drafted during the Berlin Crisis, served statewide, and was honorably discharged in 1964. Pat was employed in management by United Parcel Service for 31 years and retired in 1991. Known for his unwavering loyalty, he was committed to his family, friends, and the United Parcel Service. During his many years of retirement, his interests included golf, reading, business investments, watching the Mets, and, most of all, annual vacations with his beloved family. Visits with his children, grandchildren, and friends were always a great source of joy for him. A Funeral Mass will be held at Parish of the Holy Cross, 95 Nichols Road, Nesconset, NY on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. www.branchfh.com

He was my godfather, my dad Roland Smith served with him in the army. I'm sorry I never contacted him before he passed, my condolences. Laurie

We are very saddened to hear the news of Pat's passing. We will keep all the Marsden's in our prayers.

Feel no guilt in laughter, he'd know how much you care.
Feel no sorrow in a smile that he is not here to share.
You cannot grieve forever; he would not want you to.
He'd hope that you could carry on the way you always do.
So, talk about the good times and the way you showed you cared,
The days you spent together, all the happiness you shared.
Let memories surround you, a word someone may say
Will suddenly recapture a time, an hour, a day,
That brings him back as clearly as though he were still here,
And fills you with the feeling that he is always near.
For if you keep those moments, you will never be apart
And he will live forever locked safely within your heart.
