(Charter Member of Knights of Columbus St. Judes Council. Retired Employee of P.P.G.)
With unwavering faith, he completed his earthly journey on Sunday, December 11th, 2011 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Mary (nee Holowaty) for 55 years. Devoted and loving father of Peter (Dianne), Patricia (Steve) Cooper, Mary Jane (John) Groetelaars, James (Stacey) and Christine (Christopher) Blagg. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Deborah, Meaghanne, Joshua, Jeffrey, Jackson, Hannah, Eric and Caleb and his great grandchildren Nathan, Dylan, Taylor, Morgan, Evan and Preston. Dear brother of Betty, Shirley, Rose, Raymond and Mary Theresa. Predeceased by his parents Myrtle and Eugene McAvoy and by his brothers and sisters Hanorah, Dorian, Ken, Paul, Eugene and Ted. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Tuesday, December 13th, from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH (373 Simcoe Street S., Oshawa) on Wednesday, December 14th at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations to Holy Cross Church Building Fund or Canadian Food for Children would be greatly appreciated.

I am saddened that I couldn't keep in closer contact, but my UNCLE PAT and the rest of the family have always been in my mind. My memories of him are vibrant, and I recall his work dedication, gentleness and wise ways, generosity and steady moods as they stand out foremost in my mind. I am angered that his illness caused such pain and suffering, but I am told he even took that in stride, and had no regrets for any aspect of his life. He will be missed, and my memories cherished. R.I.P Uncle Pat.
My deepest sympathies and condolences for the sons, daughters, grandchildren, his surviving siblings, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
