Francis Braquet Jr.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Francis Braquet, Jr., age 79, who passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023 at his residence in Carencro. Interment will be in St. Peter Roman Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Chester Arceneaux, pastor of St. John Cathedral, will officiate at the services. Mr. Braquet was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro. He was in the truck driving industry for fifty years. As owner and operator of Braquet Trucking, he was leased on with Acme Truck Line for forty-two years and drove thirty-three of those years. Mr. Braquet proudly served our country as a member of the Navy from January of 1962 until 1963. Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-five years, Madeline Stemmans Braquet; two sons, Brian Braquet and his wife, Mindy, and Jared Braquet and his wife, Monique, both of Carencro; three grandsons, Jude, Jase, and Levi Joseph Braquet; three brothers, Donald Braquet and his wife, Shirley, Carrol Braquet, and Fred Braquet and his wife, Chris, all of Carencro; and two sisters, Cecile Hebert and her husband, Calvin, and Kathleen Lajaunie, both of Carencro. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Braquet, Sr. and the former Lena Guidry; and one brother, Bobby Braquet. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home led by Geneva Breaux. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. Wednesday until service time. Memorial contributions in the name of Francis Braquet, Jr. may be made to Carencro Catholic School (200 West St. Peter Street, Carencro, LA 70520). The family would like to send a special thanks to the members and staff of Traditions Health for their exceptional care and compassion. Pallbearers will be Jude, Jase, Brian, Jared, Fred, Donald, Levi, and Carrol Braquet. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Gauthreaux, Leroy Dugas, Cecil Gilbert, David Latour, James Dominque, Paul Breaux, and Jeremi Braquet.
