Very belated for atribute, I recognise, but being in Australia I've just read this sad obituary of Pat's passing, and after the chill of surprise and regret I thought to add a different kind of reflection on his many achievements. Pat joined me one year in coaching a Manor Park junior soccer XI (Pat Jr then being a player), and I still have happy memories of his companionship at both home and away games. As must have been usual, he brought his infectious enthusiasm to the role. It's sad to think he has gone.

I remember Pat when he worked at the Old Ottawa City Hall in the early 1960s. His humour, kind heart and obvious talent was evident in all that he said and did.

On this St. Patrick's Day, one cannot help but remember with love and tears the laughter, joy, and golden friendship of dear Pat Murray. The whole Murray Clan set an example of all who had the privilege of calling them friends. Pat & Alice were lovers, best friends, parents, intellectuals, who created an ambiance in Rockclife Park that was totally unique. Theirs was a marriage
most would aspire to. They were parents, most couples could learn just by watching. They were funny, larger than life, and very genuine. Pat Murray will be missed and loved for
eternity. Barbara.

We first met Pat and his lovely wife Alice in 1975. We shared many a glass and many a good time with them.
As an architect I remember his business acumen, his design skills and desire to make Ottawa a more pleasing place for all of us to live.
As a friend we remember his warmth, his love humor and love of life
After leaving for San Francisco in 1994 we regularly kept up with his exploits through mutual friends.
We shall miss him and we shall toast his passing by raising a glass or two as he would want us to.
To Pat!

We have only just heard the very sad news of Patrick’s passing, so were unable to attend in person the visitation to extend our sincere condolences to family and friends. Please accept this tribute instead.
I first knew Pat around 1962, when I was part of the then-small architectural community in Ottawa, where everyone knew everyone else, both professionally and at parties and social events. I even played rugby with Pat, albeit with brother Tim on an opposing team! I’ll never forget visiting the office on Merivale and seeing Pat lying atop a bookcase nonchalantly answering the phone………
Since then our paths have crossed on numerous occasions, and we have followed Pat’s illustrious career over the intervening years with considerable admiration and respect for a unique and gifted colleague. It was with great joy and pride that we were so fortunate to attend the wonderful Murray and Murray evening at the National Gallery on December 2nd last, where Pat yet again displayed his indefatigable and natural wit and insight with his brother, so reminiscent of those earlier years nearly half a century ago.
It is with profound respect and humility that we offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of Pat for their personal loss, and that of the whole Ottawa community. He will not be forgotten.

My sincere condolences to the Murray family, and especially to Eoin, who spoke very endearingly about his Papa at soccer games.
The first time I met Pat was at the Murray & Murray Christmas party in 1998. He welcomed me to have a drink at the bar, where the booze was free but the soft drinks were not!
I am sure many people will recall and share fond memories of Pat for a long time to come.
Best wishes to Pat's family,

Dear Mrs. Murray and Family.
My sincerest sympathies on the passing of Mr. Murray.
I had the pleasure of working with him on a project at the University of Ottawa some 14 years ago- me as a new and very "green" mechanical project manager and he as a renowned and very accomplished architect. He was very kind to me and my memories of those times are fond and a pleasure to recall- I enjoyed seeing him around the city over the years and will miss his ever present smile.
With sincerest sympathies,
Peter Dunlap- Modern Niagara Ottawa Inc.

To the Murray Family: It has been many years since I first met Pat--during my time as a member of Ottawa City Council. Then later on when I lived next door to Con Sheehan. I truly enjoyed assisting Pat and his Brother on projects both Municpial and Provincial. Pat will be a great lose to his Profession and this wide Community. I want to express my condolences to all the Family members.

The people of Rockcliffe Park were so well served when Patrick Murray served as their reeve/mayor. He was an outstanding colleague and a joy to serve with on Regional Council. A leader and supporter of Ottawa's Irish and a friend of rugby in Ottawa his passing is a loss for so many. To the murray family: thank you for sharing him with all of us.
