Patrick O'Rourke Obituary

Patrick J. O'Rourke, age 74 of Lancaster, passed away on June 2, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Cumberland, Maryland on March 14, 1950 to the late Raymond B. and Margaret (Hammersmith) O'Rourke. Pat was a graduate of Bishop Walsh High School and earned his Bachelors degree in Political Science from the University of Dayton in 1972, where he played on the football team. He was later inducted into the Western Maryland Athletic Hall of Fame for his accomplishments, and was a sportscaster for WCBC Radio in Cumberland, Maryland. Pat was an active member of Knights of Columbus and Rotary Club. He volunteered much of his free time to Fairhope Hospice and Palliative Care and also read to preschool children. Pat coached the freshman football team at Lancaster High School for many years, where he was loved by all the coaches and kids on the team. He was a lifetime member of the American Football Coaches Association.

In addition to his parents, Pat is preceded in death by his brother, Tom O'Rourke.

Pat is survived by his loving wife, Barbra (McIntyre) O'Rourke; children, Ryan (Rina) O'Rourke, Erin O'Rourke, and Brendan O'Rourke; granddaughter, Kiera Julvi; sister, Sharon (Ben) Miller; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane O'Rourke and Susan (Gary) Blake; brothers-in-law, Robert (Barbara) McIntyre; nieces and nephews, Colleen O'Rourke, Brigid (Chris) Miller Carpenter, Yale (Mindi) Miller Miller, Bryan McIntyre, Travis (Melissa) McIntyre, Heather (Joey) Miltenberger, Zoey, Joseph and Charlee Miltenberger, Kyle, Kelly, and Kelsey Blake.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024 at The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at SHERIDAN FUNERAL HOME, where a vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Cremation will follow in the care of the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pregnancy Decision Health Centers at pdhc.org, The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption, or the St. Mark Emerald Food Pantry.
