Patrick Tiso Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 13, 2013.
Patrick Frank Tiso, 68, of Las Vegas, passed away May 12, 2013 in his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in New York, November 3, 1944 to Anthony and Adelade Tiso. Pat grew up in Elmont playing baseball, fixing cars, and riding bikes with his two brothers Anthony and Buster.

After high school and trade school, Pat met the love of his life in a candy store in Cambria Heights, Queens. He married Lea Licata in 1966 and they resided in Queens until Pat was drafted into the United States Army, where he served for two years in Germany with the Military Police.

Upon his discharge from active duty, Pat and Lea moved to Long Island, New York after their first child, Jason, was born. During his 20 years of service with the New York Police Department, their daughter Kristie was born.

Pat enjoyed and participated in many interests. He loved horse racing, bowling, watching movies and television, throwing darts, playing softball, and had a special love for construction. After retiring from the NYPD, he ventured out to Las Vegas and became a security officer for the Mandalay Bay Hotel. In Las Vegas, he enjoyed gambling, golf, horse racing, travel and all the Las Vegas events.

Memorial services will be held at Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas, Nevada. He will be laid to rest privately at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Boulder City Nevada at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to lls.org or cancer.org

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal.

Dear Aunt Lea, Crissy and Jason, I have fond memories of Uncle Patty, both as my Godfather and my uncle. Most of them are from my childhood when you lived across the street from us. Even though I haven't seen him in a while, he's always been close to my heart. Mary and I wish to send you our deepest sympathy. May God bless you.

Since my teenage years I have been friends with Patty and Lea...Over time our relationship blossomed after sharing many wonderful years of life experiences and we considered each other family...I often referred to Patty as "The Miracle Man"...Three times he courageously battled cancer and successfully beat the odds; this time God saw it necessary to take him...He was loved and will be truly missed by everyone...My heartfelt condolences to my dear friend and her family...You are in my thoughts and prayers always...Love You....June

Dear Lea, Kristie and Jason, Patty was a great man. He was a quiet guy, but, every now and then he came out with a great on liner that had you laughing. Me, Brian and Ma are so happy that we all got together when you were in NYC for a visit in December. That was a wonderful day. Patty will be missed. He is in peace now and no more pain. Love all of you.

I will never forget how Pat and Lea were by Kristie's side throughout her life for the wonderful 15 years I have been lucky enough to call her friend. Keeping vigil during her accident is something most parents would do, but the dedication to her and extraordinary kindness to her friends was something more. Love radiated from them.

For the quiet father whose choice words and more importantly, constant presence in Kristie's life as mentor and friend, I wish you peace.

Pat Tiso, your legacy is solidified in the remarkable memories and foundation of love you have built and left for all those who knew and cared so deeply about you...and it will continue on for years to come.

Steve and I send our sincerest sympathies and loving thoughts to you all.
