Patty Hanson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 21, 2023.
Patty Ann Hanson joined her heavenly family on June 18, 2023. A self-described Christmas-baby, she was born on December 27, 1952, to John and Ava Pauline, younger sister to Sandralee Rarick, her lifelong best friend and confidant.

Following a childhood in her hometown of San Bernardino, California, she welcomed opportunities for travel as an adult with joyful curiosity, living everywhere from Hawaii to Japan. In 2018, she retired in Bullhead City, Arizona with her loving husband of 26 years, Edward Hanson and quickly built a life filled with beautiful friendships.

A graduate of California State University Fullerton, she dedicated her life's work to helping others – as a teacher, childcare provider, and longtime activity director in nursing care. She never stopped contributing to the world – even in retirement, her extroverted nature led her to connect with others daily, always giving back with an infectious smile, laugh and story to tell - she truly didn't know a stranger.

Above all, she never hesitated to tell anyone who would listen that she found her greatest joy in being a loving mother to her daughter, Hilary, and wonderful 'MeMaw' to her grandsons, Joel and William, who she loved to the moon and back.

Frequently described as having a "heart of gold," she shared kindness and love boundlessly. Dearly missed, she is survived by her husband, Edward Hanson, daughter Hilary (Chad) Herrington, grandsons Joel and William, sister Sandralee (Phil) Rarick, nephew George (Karon) Miller and his family, and her extended family in Illinois.

Her closest relatives, who gathered privately to celebrate her life, would find great comfort if others would consider honoring her memory with an act of kindness.
