Paul Belgio Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 25, 2007.

Paul J. Belgio, Sr., age 66, a resident of Naperville, IL for 35 years, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed peacefully Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at Edward Hospital in Naperville surrounded by his family and closest friends. He was born April 9, 1941 in Chicago. Adored husband and best friend of Helen for 44 years; devoted father of PJ (Theresa), Helen, Kathie (Rich) Cormack, Michael (Michelle), Tim (Alicia), Anne (Pat Hageman) Belgio, Tom (Elizabeth), and Teri; treasured brother of Fred (Suzann) Belgio; loving nephew of Josephine Scarpinito; precious grandfather of Kristina (21), Brianna (19), Douglas (17), Jake (12), Michael (7), Axel (6), Sean (5), Cameron (4), Noelle (3), Raven (2), Cody (2) and Avery (1); fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his beloved parents, Fred and Theresa Belgio and his sister, Phyllis Montalbano. Paul was a family man. His best-spent years always included quality time with most, if not all, his children and grandchildren. He loved late night card games with his wife, brothers and sisters and best friends and rooting for the Cubs every season. He sat at the head of many long dinner tables and was respected by colleagues both in his days of chauffeuring and working with Belgio's Catering, a family company. He emitted happiness as he witnessed weddings, births, little league baseball games, school performances and graduations; yet he was never afraid to shed a tear if the spirit moved him. Friends and family could always count on Paul for a kind word or a helping hand. Paul leaves behind a close-knit, loving family who will miss his sprit. Visitation Sunday, August 26, 2 to 8 p.m. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Closing Prayers will begin Monday, August 27, 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home and will proceed to a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1500 Brookdale Rd., Naperville. Interment Naperville Cemetery, Naperville. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Paul's memory to Edward Hospital Foundation, to be used for the Diabetes Education and Prevention Center, 801 S. Washington St., Naperville, IL 60540. Tim and family,
You, your mother, siblings and entire family are in my thoughts and prayers during this time of loss. In the years that we worked together at the beach, I could see what your family meant to you and what a strong work ethic you had instilled in you, no doubt in part from your beloved father. My heart goes out to you all now. May your many joyful memories help you through your grief.
With sincerest sympathies,
