PAUL RAY BRIGHTWELL HESSVILLE, IN Paul Ray Brightwell, age 71, of Hammond passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 13, 2013. He is survived by his daughter and her family, LaRetha and Shawn Pierce of Morton Grove, IL; three grandchildren: Benjamin, Ryan and Dylan Pierce; one sister, Becky (John) Howard of Eddyville, KY; two brothers: Harold (Kathryn) Brightwell of St. John, IN and Wayne (Sue) Brightwell of St. John, IN; many nieces, nephews and dear friends; including his kind and loving caregiver and her family, Tasheemah and her children: Mario, Kenyatta, Aaron and Jamil. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Carolyn Brightwell (nee, Brasher); son, Billy Brightwell; parents, C.O. and Irene Brightwell and brother, Charles Brightwell . Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Pastor Edward Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Bocken Funeral Home from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Paul has been a resident of the Hessville section of Hammond since 1960. He was a member of the Hammond Mohawks. He retired in 1990 after working for over 20 years at Inland Steel Co. Paul dearly loved his grandsons, they were his pride and joy.
