Paul Edward Bucey 88, Husband, Father, Papa and Coach, finally became pain free and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 28, 2017. He was born to Howard and Mary Bucey on June 16, 1929 in Toronto, Ohio.
Paul was an outstanding athlete in many sports; however, football and baseball were his loves. In 1948, Paul achieved the first team All-State Football and basketball in the state of Ohio. He was inducted into Toronto High School’s Football Hall of Fame in Ohio. Paul went on to play for Ohio State, with aspirations of playing further until his country called for his service in the Korean War. He was in the 508 Airbourne Infantry and served his country well. Once returning to the states, little did he know his future brother-in-law, would set him up with his future wife. Paul met and fell in love with his wife of 63 years Patsy Fuqua Bucey. Paul and Patsy had 3 children, Diana (Tuffy) Henderson, Houston, John Paul Bucey and Joel (Roni) Bucey, both of Corpus Christi. The children then blessed him with 5 grandchildren, Cole & Kinzy Bucey, Lane, Trace & Kara Bucey; 1 sister of Toronto, Ohio, 1 brother of Mentor, Ohio and many other family members and friends. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He made sure, sometimes even in pain to be at as many of their events he could. You could always hear him from the stands; Paul making some kind of comment or cheering his grandchild on, or his famous grunt!
He was the third employee hired at Sherwin Reynolds Aluminum plant in Ingleside, Texas. He retired after 43 years. Since his retirement, when he wasn’t with his grandkids, he would hold court at Whataburger with his cronies. Paul was also a founding and involved member of Southside Youth Football League. Paul only expected the best out of his players and mediocre was not acceptable. His former players can still hear him yelling…”Get your head in the game!” Paul would also paint his Land Rover the color of his boy’s baseball teams and traveled many a mile in that car, going from game to game.
Paul could also be known as the man, the myth, the legend. You always knew where you stood with him. He had no problem telling you how he felt. He believed in honest hard work, no excuses and integrity. There will never be another Paul.
Graveside Services will be scheduled at Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery.

Our prayers and deepest condolences for you and your beautiful Family, Mrs. Bucey. Mr. Bucey is and will always be a wonderful role model and example to us all who strive to be better human beings than who we are. He will be remembered by our Family as one of the best people we knew growing up in our old neighborhood - and the new one. He will be missed but NEVER forgotten.

We sure got a kick out of watching Paul at his grandkids' ballgames! He was a funny and warm gentleman and I know he will be missed. Rest in peace with the Lord Paul, we'll see you later!

I worked with Paul many a year. Different departments but together. I served with him on several Union committees and the Executive Board. He was respected by all and I will always try to achieve the integrity he possessed. Heaven has gained another angel.

I had the honor and privilege of working with Paul at Reynolds for many years. Paul demonstrated daily his commitment and his work ethics which is seldom seen nowadays. May God bless Joel, Roni, Mrs Bucey and the rest of the family during this difficult time.
