Paul Coelus Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 11, 2017.
Mr. Paul J. Coelus, a long-time resident of Copiague, L.I., died peacefully on Saturday, September 9th, at the age of 86 years.

Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Coelus attended the New York School of Printing (now the High School of Graphic Communication Arts) in Manhattan. Shortly after beginning a career as a printer, he entered the U.S. Army and served a combat tour in Korea.

Mr. Coelus first met his future bride, Eileen, while they were teens in Brooklyn. They met again after he returned from Korea and married in 1956. In 1966 they moved to Copiague to raise their family.

In his downtime, Mr. Coelus found pleasure in the pastimes of fishing, gardening, and woodworking, and in caring for his many cats.

Surviving are his children: daughter Eileen Coelus, son Paul Coelus and daughter-in-law Beth Offenbacker, and son James A. Coelus, and his grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Kerrigan, Sarah, Curtis, Patrick, Samuel, and Laura. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Eileen; his sister, Yvonne Albers; and the incomparable Perry.

Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Saturday, September 16th, from 2:00 - 4:30 and 7:00 - 9:30 p.m. During the evening hours, a Funeral Prayer Service will be offered. Cremation services are private.
