Paul Colombo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 4, 2025.
Paul Antonio Colombo, 61, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on December 30th, 2024. Paul was born on September 11th, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late John Colombo, M.D. and Gayle "June" Colombo.

Paul was raised in Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan, as the oldest of four siblings. He attended Grosse Pointe North and De La Salle High School. Paul grew up and spent his lifetime on the water, both in Michigan and in Florida. He was a fishing enthusiast and seasoned boater, skilled at navigating the freshwaters of Lake St. Clair and the ocean waters of southern Florida – a lifelong passion he shared with his brother and father.

After years on the water and in the boating industry, Paul transitioned to life on a small horse farm in Casco, Michigan, where he and Gina raised their two daughters, Christina and Samantha. Paul enjoyed life on open land and the outdoors, he was an avid hunter with both rifle and bow, loved fishing in the pond out back, and even found a new kind of vessel to admire-his Oliver tractor. Sharing the farm with family and friends was one of his greatest joys. He hosted many unforgettable get-togethers, pool parties, bonfires-and was always manning the grill.

Paul was an exceptional cook, known for developing his signature line of spices, and his famous "Paulie" burger. He appreciated a long cruise on his Harley, good music, watching thunderstorms, and the sleeves cut off his t-shirts. Paul viewed the world through a lens of creativity and precision, he was a first process thinker who always strived to make things better than they were before. He had an incredible sense of humor, a contagious smile, and the ability to bring laughter to any room he was in. But above all else, Paul's greatest and most meaningful qualities were shown through his roles as a beloved father, brother, uncle, father-in-law, son, and friend.

Later in life, Paul moved to Florida, rekindling his love for water, sunshine, and deep water fishing. He is survived by daughters, Samantha Colombo and Christina St. Cyr (Dylan) of Casco, Michigan; his brother, Andre Colombo, nephew, Anton Colombo and niece, Andrea (Jace) Koretz of Boca Raton, Florida; sister, Kathleen Colombo and nephew, Anthony Colombo of Harrison Township, Michigan, half sister Gina (Anthony) Rimanelli of Grosse Pointe, Michigan; Uncle, Charles Colombo (Reyna) of Rochester Hills, Michigan; Aunt, Marilyn Schmidt (Bob) of Stanwood, Michigan, and many cousins. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, John Colombo and Gayle Colombo, and his Aunt, Joyce Colombo.

A funeral mass will be held for Paul on March 14, 2025, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Richmond, Michigan (68035 Main St), with visitation at 10:00 am and mass following at 10:30 am.

My God, put Paul´s daughters, brother, sister and loved
ones in your hands.
Months or years could pass but when Paul & I spoke, texted
or got together, it was like we just saw each other
yesterday. But I will never get to play Xbox, StarCraft,
Axis & Allies, watch a fight, a martial arts movie,
order pizza and smoke cigars with him ever again.
We will never get a chance to try to impress each other
with our cooking and gross humor. These things rank as
some of the best things in my life. I regret not putting a
greater effort to stay connected the past few decades.

Please know that I will continue to pray for Paul, his family
and his friends. God bless.

Love and prayers to all of you, Gina. Paul had a way of making me laugh even when I didn´t want to. I´m blessed to have happy memories from him being the best man at my wedding to our time spent on the farm with all of you - and I´m grateful to have had the opportunity to see him recently.

Sleep in heavenly peace, Paul.

Paul, the girls are so broken but in time and slowly they will begin to heal. Try not to worry about them, I will take very good care of our daughters. Thank you for giving me such wonderful girls. I do know how much you loved them and how proud of them you are. We will miss you firecely and I will continue to stand by them and share your memories with them. I know you are resting now and for that my heart is happy."God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be so he put his arms around you and whispered "Come with Me"
