Paul was the real deal. Kind and talented. He was a role
model for many Palmetto students showing from a public high school you could go to Harvard University then give back so much from your life skills as he did with tennis....
God bless,
Craig Massey

A great tennis player and a great guy

As a teenager in Miami in the late 70s, I taught junior tennis camp with Paul's sister Anne one summer and took a series of lessons from Paul. Paul was a gifted tennis player with such fluid, elegant strokes that, once seen, could not be forgotten. He was a great teacher even back then (in his early teaching days): so intelligent, thoughtful, patient, and encouraging. That was 47 years ago and I still remember him and the terrific lessons. We have lost a wonderful person and teacher.

Paul had a kind heart, a generous spirit, and patience in droves. Humility and humor combined. While he may have spent the majority of his time developing the kids programs in Brooklyn at PPTC, he was generous with his teaching of adult clinics also, where we met. I am both shocked and saddened to learn of Paul's loss and know he lives on in the hearts and minds, and serves and volleys of many. Life is unpredictable. May all who knew him carry forward his grace and appreciation for planting seeds of goodness in our own communities, as he has. Warmly, Francesca

What a great guy and a very bright family. I played with Jane at RPTC for years. Seems like all those kids were brilliant and accomplished. Terrible to lose him so soon. My heart goes out to his family.

I met Paul at BTC this summer for the first time and was fortunate enough to play some tennis in the Friday AM clinics with him. I immediately appreciated his humor, good will, and pleasant fun personality. I am sorry for your loss.

Dear Jane, Gail, and Joy, We are so saddened by this profound loss. Paul was a gentleman on and off the courts. He will be remembered for his warm smile and witty humor. We have nothing but fond memories of Paul playing tennis, listening to jazz and "shooting the breeze." He will be missed by many and thought of often.
With sympathy and love, The Bennetts: Vicki, Kari, Bruce, and Sue

A class act and a damn good tennis player

Both my sons were students of Paul's, and truly loved him. He was so caring, so deeply connected to the kids he taught. He will be missed immeasurably by the Brooklyn community, and the children who cherished him.

I knew Paul and his lovely family growing up in Jr. Tennis in Miami. Many years later , I had the pleasure of seeing him at Prospect Park. He was telling me about the wonderful Jr. program they had there. He was so excited about the program. You could see his passion for the children. He will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to his sisters. May his memory be a blessing.

What a great guy and a remarkable family. Wish we could go back to the good ol’ days of RPTC. He seems to have lived an exemplar life and will be missed. I’m so sorry he’s gone.

We knew Paul a little from tennis in Vermont. Even the little we knew him it was evident how kind and fun he was. What a loss to the tennis community and to his family. We especially send condolences to Mary. Our love and hugs to you,

No one can prepare you for a loss; it comes like a swift wind. However, take comfort in knowing God is with you and your family lean on him in your time of need. Please accept my most heartfelt condolences.

Paul was a good guy. I knew him from school, either Pinecrest Elementary, Palmetto Jr. High, or Palmetto Sr. High. I also saw Paul at catechism class at Epiphany and saw him at Royal Palm Tennis Club. He was soft spoken and smiled easily. This is terrifically sad news. I see that he accomplished a lot and touched and improved the lives of many, many people. May God bless his family.
