Paul FAGUY Obituary

Published by Ottawa Citizen from Nov. 16 to Nov. 18, 2011.
FAGUY, Paul
FAGUY, Paul André passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 9th, 2011 at the age of 92. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia Margaret Harrison. Cherished father of daughters Janette, Susan, and Anne and son Alan. Paul was a loving and gentle grandfather who will be sadly missed by Clifford, Shayna, Chelsea and great-grandson Derek. They loved his kindness. Also survived by his brother Jean Pierre Faguy of Quebec City and predeceased by sister Margo and brother Lucien. Paul was born in L'Ancienne Lorrette, Quebec, attending Laval University in Quebec City before joining the RCAF. He had a distinguished career as tail gunner and squadron leader earning medals of distinction. Returning from the Second World War, Faguy came finally to Ottawa with his bride from England becoming a dedicated public servant retiring in the position of Deputy Minister Corrections (Commissioner). Unable to sit still for very long, he enjoyed retirement travelling, swimming with friends at Meech Lake, playing golf and skiing to his heart's content. He was well recognized on the hills of Camp Fortune and the golf greens of Ottawa and the Gatineau area. He had a subtle sense of humour and never lost sight of a pretty girl. Paul was valiant in his recent health battle, never complaining, The latin motto of the RCAF is "Per ardua ad astra" - "Through adversity to the stars". Paul is now among the stars.
Funeral service will be held November 19th, at 11:00 a.m. at Lady Fatima Church, Ottawa. Reception following. Internment Capital Gardens Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Foundation.

Dear Alan, Pat and family,

We fondly remember your Dad as a kind and gentle person who lived life to the fullest. He was particularly kind to Gerry when he was a summer law student at the Ministry of the Solicitor General where Mr. Faguy was the well-respected Commissioner of Penitentaries.

Our deepest sympathies to you and your family.

To the Faguy Family
Yes, your dad/grandfather was easily recognized on the hills of Camp Fortune. I have very fond memories of Paul skiing with my dad Chip and their friends.
May you find comfort in all the memories you have of Paul. He was such a fun man to ski with!
God Bless you all at this time.

My sympathies to the family. Your dad facilitated me in doing a study of the Solicitor-General's department while I was at Carleton.
Alan was a classmate at Fatima and St. Joe's. One of the girls, Susan (I think) was in my sister Gail's class, I believe.

My condolences,
Bob

I have strong memories of the Faguy family and Mr. Faguy. Al and I skied with Mr. Faguy and I remember he broke a pelvis hitting a tree at Mont Gabriel. I also remember sleeping over in the bomb shelter in the 60's. I grew up here but lived my adult life in Toronto. I returned in 2006 and was surprised this morning to see Mr. Faguy has died. My condolences to all of the family.

If you describe a man who is courageous and wise, humble and careing, honest and loving.
If you describe a man who is sees greatness in anyone and who soothes your soul with his smile. If you describe a man who is talented and passionate, inspiring and kind.
You would be describing him.
He is my best friend, my soul mate and a man I will love like no other.
He is my Grandfather.
God Bless I love you xox
