PLEASANT POINT AND HAMPDEN - Paul Harrison Greeley Jr., 79, died on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, after a long and difficult battle with cancer. He was born in Hampden, Maine, on December 16, 1935, to Paul and Eleanor (Dexter) Greeley.

Paul was a star football player for Hampden Academy, as well as an overall avid sports fan, his favorite team being the New York Giants. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a great artist and loved donating his art work to raffles and benefits in his chosen community of Pleasant Point. He also had a great fondness for the origins of words as well as history. A very hard-working man, he worked in the construction industry most of his life. His wish to end his days at home in Pleasant Point were honored and he was surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice Socoby Greeley; and his children, Susan Walsh and her husband, Simon, of Oxford, England, Michael and Linda Socoby of Indian Island, Yvonne "Cookie" and Jacques Ferland of Old Town, Darlene and Steve Page of Milford, Melissa and Keith Tasker of Westbrook, Christian and Donna Greeley of Levant, Gabrielle Greeley of Portland and Victoria and Steve Spencer of Bangor. He is also survived by siblings, Joyce Greeley McDevitt and husband, John, of North Yarmouth and Robert and Denise Greeley of Houston, Texas; his grandchildren, Oliver, Summer, Mike, Randy, Maliyan, Cole, Erik, Mike S., Jade and Maryann; his great-grandchildren, Marcus, Hunter, Carter, Kami, Kobe, Brianna, Haley and Justin; his sister-in-law, Mary Yarmal; his godson, Shawn Hastings; many nieces and nephews; and his special friends, "son" Albert Jensen, Jerry Standley, Lewis "Fella" Newell and Joe Mitchell. He was predeceased by his

parents; sister, Barbara Goode; grandson, Adam Page; and friend, Bobby Thibodeau.

Following his wishes, there will be no services and a memorial service will be held in the spring. He will be interred at Riverside Cemetery in Orono. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais and Eastport. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.maysfuneralhome.com.
