Paul Greer, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 20, 2021.

Paul Robert “Robbie” Greer Jr. of Lexington, NC passed away suddenly on Sunday October 17, 2021 after saying, “Watch this,” to Melissa. He leaves behind a heck of a lot of junk for his partner and daughter to rifle through. Things like 25 old computers, 95 computer parts from the last 3 decades, various CRXs from the Jurassic period, 137 (+/-3) cords (all cords, any cords, 3 decades worth), a few broken lawn mowers, (and some that actually work), a boat that doesn’t float, lots of tools, like a whole lot of tools, oh yeah, and a lot of airplane stuff. But this is not an ad for a used parts store, this is an obituary for a great man, generous landlord, committed husband and adoring father.

Robbie grew up in Rural Hall, NC just north of Winston-Salem.  As a child he loved to race go carts. He was the owner/operator of Twin Lakes Avionics, where he was adored by his employees, especially the bossy blonde one. And even more adored at home, especially by the little bossy blonde one named Piper. (She is a daddy’s girl.)  Robbie also had a real estate business called Piedmont Venture Properties.  His first business was a stereo shop, Booming Creations.

Robbie suffered from a disease called hard headedness. Unfortunately, it was the people around him that actually suffered. He was very opinionated as well. If you were to look up the word sarcastic in the dictionary there would be a picture of Robbie smirking back at you.

Robbie was a pilot and loved to fly. He was looking forward to teaching his daughter, Piper, how to fly. Piper loved flying through the clouds with her daddy. Another thing Robbie loved to do was ski. And he was great at it. He taught Piper how to ski as well (and Melissa, but she’s clumsy so Piper’s a lot better at it.) He also liked to play tiddlywinks with manhole covers.

Robbie was a very hard worker, dedicated to doing the job right the first time, no excuses. He took pride in his work whatever he was working on and had a great work ethic. And he would help anyone that was willing to help themselves too.  Some people are jacks of all trades and masters of none, but Robbie was a jack of all trades and master of several. Robbie was very logical and level headed, but rest assured he was not a robot as he would laugh when Piper would poke his belly button.

Robbie is survived by his partner Melissa, daughter Piper (aged 7), and stepchildren Dante, Kira, and Darwin, all of Lexington, NC.  He is also survived by his parents Paul and Rebecca Greer of Rural Hall, NC; brother Chad Greer (wife Katy) of Wake Forest, NC; sister Dana Greer of Rural Hall, NC; nieces Ashton, Peyton, Elaina, and Clara and nephews Jacob and Thomas.

Robbie’s celebration of life memorial will be at Twin Lakes Avionics on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 2 pm. The address is 206 Indian Hills Rd. Advance, NC. The family will be available following the memorial. Just remember, you can’t cry if you’re laughing and Robbie never cried.

Flowers are good, but plants are better. Or you could donate to Piper’s gofundme page. https://www.gofundme.com/f/hjte8-helping-piper?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1

Parabola by Tool

So familiar and overwhelmingly warm
This one, this form I hold now

Embracing you, this reality here
This one, this form I hold now, so
Wide eyed and hopeful

Wide eyed and hopefully wild

We barely remember
Who or what came before this precious moment
We are choosing to be here, right now
Hold on, stay inside

In this holy reality
In this holy experience
Choosing to be here in...

This body, this body holding me
Be my reminder here that I am not alone in...
This body, this body holding me
Feeling eternal, all this pain is an illusion

Alive!!!

Twirling 'round with this familiar parable
Spinning, weaving 'round each new experience
Recognize this as a holy gift and
Celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing
A chance to be alive and breathing

This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality
Embrace this moment, remember
We are eternal, all this pain is an illusion

Robbie was a kind soul, to both his fellow man and many animals he loved throughout the years. We shared many wonderful years together that I look back fondly on. I hope this tragedy can bring those who loved Robbie the most now, closer together as they realize how many lives Robbie has touched leaving better than before. To Pop and Becca, I can only imagine the anguish you are experiencing loosing your eldest son, I know he loved and admired you both so very much, as did I. I am keeping you all in my prayers, sending love your way.

So shocked and sad to hear that Robbie had passed away. He was always very generous with his time and expertise. He certainly has left a lot of reasons to be missed. My most sincere condolences to all his family and freinds.

Robbie and I grew up together in church. He had a funny, dry sense of humor and I loved being around him. He will be missed.

The Greer's are like family to me. This loss is a hard one and prayers will be the only healing that can help them during this time, for them I will continue to pray always. I had heard so many great things about Robbie, although I have never had the pleasure of meeting him, I could tell he was a good man/father.
Piper I pray for your healing as well, I have heard so much about the love your daddy had for you. He will forever be by your side and walk through life with you. You may not see him, but you will certainly feel his presence. May God lay his hands on your sweet soul and forever watch over you as well.
