Paul Hahn Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 31, 2010 to Jan. 3, 2011.

Paul James Hahn passed away at home on Christmas after a long illness. Beth, his wife and best friend, and Kathryn, his younger sister, were at his side.

Born in 1953, Paul was a life-long resident of Ventura County. Growing up in Ojai, he spent much of his free time exploring the Sespe and Sierras before graduating from Nordoff High School in 1971. He lived and worked in Ojai before moving to Ventura.

In 1988 married Elizabeth Sharp Hahn, to be.

Paul began his career working for Loggins and Messina at their Mother Lode Ranch. After a brief stint working for Vetco Offshore Industries, he was hired by the State of California in 1986 to work at the Ventura Count Fairgrounds where he became Event Coordinator. Paul excelled at his job and loved his work. He was the go to guy. In addition to working for the state,

Paul was occasionally hired to coordinate other events. His client list included the Ojai Music Festival and Ojai Days. Paul retired from his position with the state after 24 years of service.

Paul was a man of varied interests. He loved cooking, gardening and photography along with ocean kayaking and traveling with Beth. Every year they planned a annual visit to Yosemite National Park which always felt like "Heaven on Earth". Periodically their travels took them out of the country. They counted Canada and Europe among their destinations.

Paul's mom Marjorie died in 1978. He is survived by his wife Beth, father Fred Hahn, his sisters Libby Kerr and Kathryn Springer, and a long list of family and friends.

A memorial service will be held for Paul on Sunday, January 2, at 2 p.m. at the Derby Club which is located at the Ventura County Fairgrounds. Please come join us as we celebrate the life of this loving husband and faithful friend.

Uncle Paul was always a super fun guy to have around. I wish I was able to get to know him better before he passed. I remember when him and aunt Beth would come to visit. They would always bring some awesome gift that I could never expect to receive from any other member of my family. Beth I hope you are doing alright. It would be nice to see you sometime and catch up.

Dear Beth,
I will always be grateful to Paul and his green thumb for taking that little sprig I entrusted in his care and nurturing it into a thriving, vigorous, beautiful plant. You and he knew how important it was/is to me.
I will always remember him when I visit Yosemite. I completely understand what a spiritual place it was for the both of you.
Rest in Peace, Paul. Love to you, Beth.

Paul was my mentor and friend for 22+ years and it seems just like him to be one of the first to go beyond and scope out the logistics for the rest of us. Although we are so far away, it was just nice to know that I could give him a call. We're so sorry that due to the snow storm, we won't be able to make the memorial, but, God speed Paul, not fade away. All our love & hugs to you Beth, always, Tom & Deena

Dear hahn family,
My cousin's and I were childhood friends of Pauls in Ojai, he was SO one of the good guys. Some people stay in your heart & memory forever, Paul was one of those for me.
