Funeral for the Rev. Paul W. “Buddy” Holmes, 70, of Hartselle will be Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at 1 p.m. at Falkville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Lovelace officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Falkville City Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Rev. Holmes died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at his residence. He was born Feb. 22, 1934, in Morgan County to George Henry Holmes and Cora Lee Akins Holmes. He was a member of Falkville First Baptist Church. He was a retired Southern Baptist Minister. He served at East Highland Baptist Church, Union Grove Baptist Church, Pates Chapel Baptist Church and at Southwest Baptist Church until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Brown Holmes; his parents; and two brothers, David Eugene Holmes and Charles Lee Holmes.
Survivors include two daughters, Valerie Sue Holmes of Decatur and Vicki Denise Price of Hartselle; two brothers, Freddie Roy Holmes Sr. of Houston, Ala., and George Wallace “Joe” Holmes of Decatur; one sister, Patricia Ann Holmes Coots of Falkville; and two grandchildren, Kelly Price and Kayla Price.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Hunter, Todd Coots, Freddie Ray Holmes Jr., Tony Holmes, Greg Pridmore and Michael Holmes.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all each day....please remember the good memories and forget any bad ones that might slip in. We all loved Buddy so much and will miss him for many days weeks months and years to come. He was a very loved and respected individual by many people in many walks of life. The family will always miss him and Gene as well as Grandma and Charlie, Betty and Randy....just to mention a few of the recent ones that went on to be with the Lord. We pray that all four of yall will soon get settled again and move on with your lives. They will never be the same because a great part of it passed on last week to be with the Lord. Please get involved in a local church of believers...that will always help fill some of the empty spots in your heart. Remember to trust in the Lord and lean on the Holy Spirit to lead you during these times. Time and the Lord will help....in your great loss. Love you all.
