PAUL E. JOHNSON

Paul E. Johnson, 91, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023 in Louisville, TN. Son of John and Mary Johnson. Paul graduated from East High School in 1951. He married the love of his life, Darlene M. Williams on Feb. 9, 1952 in Trinity Lutheran Church. Shortly thereafter, he was called to serve in the US Army during the Korean War. Upon returning from Korea, he became an apprentice painter, later starting a distinguished career as Paul E. Johnson Painting & Decorating, retiring in 1996. He always said that this was not just a job - it was his hobby, as he loved making other people's homes beautiful. He and Darlene enjoyed spending time with family, collecting antiques, going on fishing trips, card club get-togethers, and many years at their cottage in Wisconsin, as well as spending time in Florida. After Darlene's passing in 2004, Paul married Beverly Stout in 2006, spending many happy years together in Ft. Myers, Florida before her passing in 2014. He then moved to Jackson, Missouri until January 2023 when he moved to Tennessee to be near family.

Paul will be dearly missed by his family - daughters, Kathy (Mike) Kennedy, of Maryville, TN, Karen (Chuck) Martini of Rockton, IL, Kelli (Mike) Sabin of Friendsville, TN.; Grandchildren, Shawn (Rob) Morales, Josh (Amber) Kennedy, Justin (Shelley) Martini, Mark Martini, Mary (Shane) Lanier, Ashlie (Isaac) Braun, Aubrie Sabin; Great-Grandchildren, Hannah, Halleigh, Tim, Ashleigh, Bryleigh, Kyle, Sadie, Mason, Alyssa, Charlie, Ellie, Briggs, Isaiah & Ethan; Great-great-granddaughter Natalie. Predeceased by brothers Robert and Donald, sisters Pauline and Kathryn.

Celebration of Life from 10:00 to 12noon on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at First Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61107. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Disabled American Veterans in Paul's name.
