Paul Edsel Leard, 95, of Columbus, Ohio, died Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Madison House in London, Ohio.
He was born Feb. 23, 1922, in Furnace Run in Kittanning, to the late James and Gladys (Skinner) Leard.
Paul formerly lived in Columbus from 1957 to 2009, moving back in 2012 until his time of passing. He was a contractor who did remodeling designs as well as a finishing carpenter. Paul served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, where he was a Navigator Instructor on B-17 and B-24 planes.
He enjoyed reading, genealogy, American history, and spending time with family.
Left to cherish his memory is son, Tom (Barbara) Leard of Carefree, Ariz.; son, Dennis (Chris) Leard of Ricville, Iowa; daughters, Eileen (Larry) Hay of Clyde, Ohio; Judy Cates and Joyce Minor, both of Columbus; sons, Ray Leard and Jerry Leard, both of Columbus; and Frank Leard of Sudbury, Mass.; daughters, Therese (Mark) Regan of Lancaster and Rita Leard of Albuquerque, N.Mex.; and son, Pat (Teresa) Leard of Leonardtown, Md.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Lois Leard Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Marino) Leard, who died in August, 1983; sisters, Ruby Leard and Helen Leard Kramer; and brother, Donald Leard.
Friends will be received from 8-10 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2017, at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home, 119 Bear St., Worthington. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. James Neal officiating. Interment will be in Worthington Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Paul's memory can be made to Loving Care Hospice and Palliative Care, 56 S. Oak St., P.O. Box 445, London, Ohio 43140.
